Can you confirm this?

There is no Tarmac Black in the GSR line-up for the United States.

11-23-2007, 07:26 PM
Hey TRUST,

According to the data sheets we have right now, the base model GSR will not be coming with a high wing spoiler, but rather a rear trunk lip that you can see on some ES model Lancers. The 'Sight, Sound & Spoiler' package will add on the following to the GSR model(according to the data sheets we have):

- HID Headlights with manual leveling.
- 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate Punch premium sound system w/ 9 speakers.
- Sirius Satellite Radio w/ 6 month subscription.
- 6CD/MP3 in-dash head unit.
- Large rear wing spoiler.
- FAST Key entry system.

The 'Technology' package is only applicable to the MR model. It will add on the following to a base MR (according to the data sheets we have):

- 30GB HDD Navigation w/ music server & single CD/MP3/DVD head unit.
- 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate Punch premium sound system w/ 9 speakers.
- Sirius Satellite Radio w/ 6 month subscription.

I think it would be pretty lame if the GSR looked "less sporty" than the Lancer GTS, and I think a lip spoiler will look pretty lame. I know, what really matters is the effect on down force at highway speeds, but we care about the looks, too. I believe the designers of the Evolution/Lancer used wind tunnels to test aerodynamics so I'm not worried about the effect, just the look.

You get lip spoiler base GSR or the tall spoiler (same as the MR right?) with the SSS package.

Thanks KMx, that's exactly what I was looking for there, much appreciated (Sorry for the slow response... in a busy world right now).

As for the FAST Key system, I think that it sounds pretty sweet. It is completely unnecessary though, but still pretty sweet :+1:

You can always just order the wing seperately through parts department.

Definately no lip spoiler! A new spoiler, preferably the MR spoiler, will have to be written up as part of the deal if I buy a GSR. The BBS wheels look so good with the GG, I want them, too, but the cost to upgrade wheels will be a lot in Canada. I will have to think long and hard about getting these wheels!

soopah
11-26-2007, 11:00 PM
I think they might, I just haven't tried yet. The first GSR is supposed to be at Vancouver Mitsu by Dec. 23. Once they have it and I can go see it (and see the first STI as well) then I will decide what to do, and if I go for a GSR they will have to order a spoiler for it. I agree with KMXxBadboy, you should just be able to order it from the parts department. But then there is installation, maybe paint (hopefully not), etc. I wish they would have just offered an SSS package like in the US. Why beat on us and treat us poorly because we are in Canada???

toosteeley
11-27-2007, 11:20 PM
I'm in the same boat. Trying to decide between the EVO and STI.

I'll be interested to see what insurance will be like on the EVO. The insurance on an STI is already quite high, but I wonder how Canadian insurance co's will treat the EVO considering it's the first time it's being sold here. Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll fall under a regular Lancer ;)

Since someone was asking...:-P I've put in a deposit at [name removed] Mitsu as well...they have, if memory serves me right, 4 GSRs and 2 MRs ordered right now. I have my name on the Phantom Black MR Premium with a port arrival date of mid-march, although the sales guy is saying that Mitsu is always 2-3 weeks late...shrug. 1st GSR will be in, 2nd or 3rd week of January. The other MR, (I wasn't paying too much attention to the GSRs honestly), is a Wicked White MR with a port arrival date of mid-feb.

I also went to [name removed] Mitsu...they aren't taking deposits at all. First come first serve / expect huge markups. LOL. Interestingly enough, they are getting 3 GSRs but I remember seeing at least 3 MRs as well. 2 Phantom Blacks and 1 Wicked White. I remember at least one of the PB MRs was a premium, can't remember the rest. Again, NO deposits here. If any Vancouver-ites want, I can swing by some of the Richmond dealers to check as well, (although I highly suspect it'll be crazy pricey/long list over at the dealers there).

If any Vancouver-ites want, I can swing by some of the Richmond dealers to check as well, (although I highly suspect it'll be crazy pricey/long list over at the dealers there).

Don't bother, the line up for [name removed] Mitsubishi is like endless...I am 20th on the list. Which is why I went all the way to [name removed] to put a deposit and I am the second :)

Gentlemen, while I appreciate your zeal and support of the Mitsubishi lineup, I would like to humbly request that we do not mention other dealerships in my dealership's thread. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I edited out the names of the other dealers out of respect for KMXxBadboy (http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/member.php?u=199). While I'm sure you guys meant no harm, it's disrespectful and unfair to talk about other dealers in his own thread.

@Rosshole - can you look these up and give us rates?

According to my insurance, I'd be looking at $1100 per year. That sounds too low, but I'll take it for now. :)

Is that on fully coverage, Dino? If so, especially in the State of NJ, that's amazing. Take it and run!

That's equivalent to my Protege5. That's a great rate!

Yeah, full coverage.

I told them that sticker on the vehicle was $34K.

I'm not convinced that it's a true rate...and even if it is, I get a big discount because I have 2 other vehicles on my account with them.

Ah my deepest apologies KMX! I did not mean to "highjack" the thread!

For sure please buy from KMXxBadboy of Maywood Mitsubishi! He is the best, he is supporting this forum, providing timely information to us all, and providing other services like parts, etc., even up to us Canadians!

For us Canadians, we are screwed for buying Evo's! We need to revolt, like they did at the Boston Tea Party. We need to have a Vancouver Evo Party, and block the Evo's at the port! If they can't ship them to Toronto maybe they will take notice and provide lower Canadian MSRP's! Who's with me?!!!

BTW, I just dropped by [name removed] Mitsu where I also have a deposit. I tried to fit a few things in the trunk of a regular Lancer. Actually it is not too bad, my big stroller (Peg Perego) does not quite fit between the humps of the wheel wells at the seat backs, but it does fit in at a bit of an angle with space for a fair amount more stuff besides, like lots of groceries, or a couple medium sized boxes, etc. I don't know about fitting two tour sized golf bags, but I have a regular golf bag and it would fit. The biggest complaint is the opening space for the trunk, which is quite narrow. Compared to the regular Lancer I think the Evo trunk space is slightly less due to a few extra components stuffed back there.

Oh, and today I was told the Evo release date in Canada would be Feb.1, 2008. Not sure if this is old news or not.

Actually, now that I think about it, it would depend on which kind of head unit you get. If you go with the GSR w/ SSS package, you won't need the iPod cable. You'll just need the RCA to iPod cord which you can pick up at any Radio Shack store for under 10 bucks.

Octane Blue GSR A11 now spoken for. First shipment remaining A11s are Graphite Gray and Rally Red.

I also have A00 models waiting to be ordered.

I will be able to add on aero packages onto vehicles that do not originally have them on!

There's a big difference between an iPod cable and an audio input line.

Correct, Dino. The iPod adapter that Mitsubishi sells plugs into the headphone jack. The RCA to iPod cable will plug into the same headphone jack as well.

I think the iPod cable you are referring to is the wide one that can both power the iPod and allow it to be controlled from the radio rather than the iPod itself. Currently Mitsubishi only has that cable avaiable for it's 'Project America' cars: Eclipse, Galant, Endeavor and Eclipse Spyder.

d'oh.

No biggie for me, I'll be swapping to a double-din aftermarket nav with ipod support. Probably either an Alpine or a clarion.

The 6CD/MP3 in dash player that comes with my SSS package will tide me over until then.
