Just tuned at AMS today a tire eating 452awhp and 404awt. All my mods are in my signature. Here is the video of my dyno run.

Very nice.

Questions:

What gear was that pull in?

How much laggier is the turbo over stock?

Was this on pump gas?

How do you like the clutch?

Congrats!

the pull was in 4th gear and the turbo spool is like stock. I really dont feel much different. The car still drives just as it did the day I bought it except more power when your in it of course. All runs were done on 93 octane and my meth/water injection at 30psi. So far the clutch is holding great and is driving friendly.

Very nice.

dcasandman
01-20-2009, 01:42 PM
^Im comparing it to the dynograph posted right above mine in the quotes. I said 60hp I probaly should have said 100hp. To me it looks like his peak power occurs about the same time mine does with the stock turbo, so not worse lag. I would love to add an extra 60-80 hp. Im only comparing spool/lag time.

Great numbers for sure, but it is definitely not lag free from that graph. There looks to be a fair dip in the curve below 4000rpm compared to the stock turbo. However this could be attributed to the tune, perhaps mid range and top end performance were the priority and the bottom end was sacrificed just a little, I am sure 4myX can give us some insight :).

Chris at AMS and I looked at the graphs before this turbo tuned and after this turbo tuned and the turbo lag looked almost stock and driving it I cant tell alot of difference.

Oh ok, I was just going by your graph compared to sandman's.

I am not an expert by any means, but if I am reading those graphs right at 3000K rpm sandman makes about 250ft/lbs torque and you are at about 200ft/lbs. At the same RPM he also makes 150hp and yours is around 115hp.

Maybe his mods and tune really helped with the stock turbo's response compared to stock.

Or perhaps I am seeing things incorrectly as I often do :p. Either way your curve looks great!

I think it is really close kimi thats why I posted it. It is very hard to determine exactly where each crosses where when they are not overlayed on the same dyno chart. I just think it is really close. I will say my car makes good power now at 3.5k, but if I really want to keep it cooking it still needs to be at 4k. 4myX dyno pretty much looks like as long as you are at 4k you will be moving pretty dam fast.

you do know that it is not rated at 520 to the wheels. that is crank hp 520 chp after 25% drivetrain loss whiwhich is a tad over 125 hp. 25% is on the low side but it is 25hp for every 100 hp so it will get ya around 400 on a good tune.and a higher reading dyno. i made 550whp in my wrx,but it cost me 30,000 to make it a solid car and a daily driver. evo will get ya there cheaper. the drivetrain loss is about the same for both cars though.:)

on a side note dyno numbers are just numbers that will be different from dyno to dyno . i am not a tuner nor do i claim to be ,but i have had my car dynoed more than i would have liked see as it was sponsored so i have been around shops and dynos for about 17 years. i think they should not hand out numbers as this inflates heads .. a dyno is a in house tuning device to make a car run properly. a track is the true test of after tune performance imo. either way i hope the car pulls and runs the way you like it to ams is a bunch of very talented people, and i am going to have them tune my car also, but dealers actually recommend them in chitown area. that is pure respect

There are 4 pins that hold your spyder gears in place in the center diff inside the trans, those pins are held in place by smaller pins and those pins broke. I dont know if I got a bad wheel hop or what but this has happened to a couple other guys too.
