: EVO X pricing at dealership in Indianapolis

So I've been calling dealerships around the country to get an EVO X for the new shop car and it seems that most, if not all, EVO X's coming into to dealerships between January and February all have some sort of extra packages on them and that each dealership will only be recieving one X in January and one in February and so on. So I called this Mitsubishi Dealership IN. I asked if they were still taking pre-orders and he said yes. So I asked if he had any idea on the pricing for a base 2008 EVO X GSR in black. He asked his manager and said they are not giving exact prices, but for a base 2008 EVO X GSR in black the msrp will be no less than $30,999 and no more than $31,999!
Happy shopping,

-Nick-

If this accurate then Canadian pricing better be a lot less than $40K!!!

Good luck getting invoice with this car, but I will back up your right to ask for a lower price! You need to find a dealer who, at the end of the model year, has three Evo's sitting on his lot for more than a couple months.

kmxxxbadboy, we need the real MSRP prices NOW!

Then you would have to pay extra to have it transported to you. So it depends on the total amount you will save and if this is enough for you not to buy from your local dealer. Of course, you could make a vacation out of it and actually fly in, take delivery, then drive home. I don't think you are going to get deals better than MSRP in the first six months of this car's introduction, so this is a pointless exercise.

2008 Mitsubishi Evolution X GSR w/ no options: $30,999 - $31,999 msrp guaranteed. You can pick whichever color you wish as well. As for buying the car for invoice, I highly doubt that will be attainable for at least another 6-10 months.

I will be getting the car in mid February and they said I will recieve the exact price 1 week before it gets shipped out. Then its time to make her go faster ;)

Black is not a color option for the GSR, AFAIK.

Welcome to the forums, DB. Just a side note though: I have to edit your posts to remove contact information for the dealer you're getting your car through. We don't allow advertising or referrals on this forum unless they have been approved.

KMXxBadboy, do you have MSRP pricing yet?

TriStateEvo
11-21-2007, 07:39 PM
I just called corporate in Cypress, CA for this info.

A few things:

1) Official MSRP pricing has not been released to ANYONE. The $31,995 MSRP pricing that has been listed on here is fake, according to MMNA corporate office. The base Evo IX was priced at above $32k and, as with most retail items over time, especially with this much technological advancement, the price goes up, not down.
2) There is no official listing of a black color for the GSR. When we built our cars, the black color was not available for the GSR model.
3) I have yet to get a PM as to what dealership this is.

For the reasons above, I believe the information provided is a straight out lie. It's truly no wonder why dealers get a reputation of lying to their customers. It's dealerships like this one in Indianapolis that fester such distrust and I'm sickened to even be associated with them.

I write back and respond when I have concrete information to base an answer off. As for your PM, I am still waiting for an answer from my General Manager. As we do not know what the pricing is on the new Evo, I cannot neccessarily give anyone an answer on what MSRP is. I won't even speculate at this moment about 'ballpark' because it can be argued that even if I am a red cent off, I would be considered a liar. Therefore, I will wait until pricing comes out before I make a statement.

+1 (though I wouldn't be so dramatic about it)

We need Mitsubishi Motors North America and Mitsubishi Motors Canada to give us the straight goods. No sense asking the dealers to guess. We are just fishing to see if the information is already out there from the corporate overlords. If it isn't we will just have to wait until someone scoops the pricing news!

Okay first I would not post BS in this forum. I own a business that is very soon going to start making performance parts for the X's, and after calling this dealership in Indianapolis I was stoked to hear the GSR was coming in black and the price they were selling it for. I thought it may change some of the minds of the consumers that were borderline on getting the EVO or not. Thank you.

I applaud your efforts, Nick, but dealerships can and do lie to us customers to peak our interest. I want to see pricing, real pricing, not a guesstimate. I'd love to see the Evo X GSR priced at $32K!

Thank you, Nick, for the PM. I will be checking this dealership's allocation on Friday after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Nick, I hope you don't take what I said the wrong way. In no way was I pointing the finger at you and crying 'liar, liar'. I am on the Mitsubishi Dealer Link on a daily basis always keeping an eye out for updates. The Dealer Link is for managerial staff at the dealership and salespeople do not have access to it unless they are logged-in by a manager. If what your salesperson said accurately reflected what was on the MDL, I would have no issue whatsoever. The reason I am so fervent about what you heard from your salesperson is because releasing false information to a customer such as yourself who is stoked about the new Evo only proliferates comments about untrustworthy car dealers. As a sales manager, if I found out that one of my salespeople was blatantly lying to a customer, they would be packing their boxes. I don't know how that dealership runs their business, but I consider the EvoXForums.com bulletin board a little piece of home away from home and I just don't want to see the good people on here given the wrong info.

When the numbers are fully released, rest assured that I will post them with earnest. I may be opinionated and somewhat passionate about my line of work, but it is the same passion and dedication that I have for my own Mitsubishi that drives me to be that way.

That and somebody decided to crash their H3 into two of my Eclipses on the lot today.

Unfortunately my Dealerlink does not allow me to search outside my region (North East Regional) and it just so happened that the Indiana dealer is right on the outer skirts of our region, so it was OK for me to check.

Here's a funny tidbit. They usually have pricing next to the car on order. But for the Lancer Evolution Xs, it read: MSRP 259,213.

When did we reach Ferrari pricing levels??? LoL.

Seems like they are masking the MSRP on all levels until the official pricing release.

dmx,

at any time before actually taking delivery of the vehicle, you have the right to pull out or change up. If we don't have your vehicle, I'd be more than happy to see if it will come in on the next shipment or see if I can manage a dealer swap (though it will be hard, because those pricks will be holding onto them like teeth). Deposits are always refundable, as without giving a product for the money is illegal.

We are in the dark as much as anyone else out there is as far as pricing is concerned.

I get calls on a daily basis from people that ask me how much the new Lancer Evolution X is. My staff gets even more of the calls that I can't handle when I am busy. I answer e-mails, PMs, IMs at 3AM in the morning from people that I know are not in the geographic position to buy from my dealership.

I do not give even a 'ballpark' price for a few reasons:

1) God forbid I am wrong by $0.31, I don't want to be called a liar or a fucking clown.
2) Until Mitsubishi comes out with a price, I will not go over their heads and 'speculate'.
3) I am a fair person. Treat me with respect and I will do the same.

"These guys" meant car dealers in general, and yes I and many others apreciate your honesty and you not atempting any bullshit dealer tactics on those of us who may look to you, an "insider" if you will, for info and guidence. I did not ask for you personaly and I wish I had, i just asked for sales and got put throught to this guy. I guess I was already upset somewhat after learning how much slower this awesome looking car is than the evo 9(or sti for that matter). And I just wanted to see if by any chance any news had come in being that its the first of the month, so I can begin to make up my mind where my deposit is going to go as I am undecided(evoX,sti, maybe 335i) as to what im going to buy after waiting for the evo x for 2 years. redmachine, no offense taken. I was just shocked to see that you had called in and I was not asked for. On Saturdays, dealerships are really busy and 'Silly Bird' (the girl who answered your phone call) sits right next to me. When your phone call came in, she asked me, "Mike, it's a new car sales call, who should I give it to?" I wanted the new guy, Stanley, to get some phone time (to be fair to all my floor salespeople) and I had no idea it was an Evo inquiry. I did hear him oversay 'forty-six...' and his desk is about 30 feet from my podium. I honestly thought he was referring to the competing dealership on Route 46 so I didn't pay it much mind. After I had read your post, I called a meeting at the front desk and asked who had quoted a phone customer forty-six thousand on a new Evo X. Stanely raised his hand and I put two and two together. I apologize for my eager beaver new guy. The phone call should never have been transferred to him and he should have forwarded the call to me as soon as he heard that it was about an Evo X. I guess he was just trying to close his own deal and pull his own weight to impress management, but instead could have cost me someone from the very forum that I frequent. In the future, make sure to ask for me directly and I will be more than happy to take care of you personally.

Yup JLuu... I'm waiting in anticipation just like everyone else (since I have one on order too!). Falls Church, VA isn't that far out. Man, this suspense is killing me, and I'm supposed to be a composed sales manager! LoL.

What is the possibility of sourcing the front and back seats of the MR for the GSR? Can Parts order them?

hey, it might just the sales person i talked to, but his name was Robert Gold (Senior Floor Manager) Stohlman Mitsubishi Dealership here in Vienna, VA (very close to falls church). he says he is getting several phantom black Evo's but he was not sure if they were just for MR's or both gsr and mr's if you could confirm, KMX, that the black color is only for MR models?
-just making sure cause i got excited again about the black gsr =)

I talked with my local Mitsu parts department and they suggested the seat covers for the MR would be available for order concurrent with the MR launch. Can Maywood confirm???

Seat covers have always been available, even on the old Evo models. They are extremely expensive though. In retrospect, it would be cheaper to get aftermarket seats, but with the new sensor connectors that are on the Evo X, aftermarket seats may not be available without tripping a code due to the seat mounted side airbags.

That is good news. Aftermarket seats are a huge no-go for me for the reasons you pointed out. This is why I don't own an STi. I want to track my daily driver and the US STi seats (including the 08 STi) are totally unacceptable. Some folks rely on the harness to hold them in place. How sad is that? The X GSR/MR Recaro's look very supportive.

The SST is a showstopper for me. All I want from the MR is are the alcantara covers and the black paint. The paint I can live without.

Cost is not an issue for me at all.

Todd,

If that is the case, everything that makes the MR an MR, aside from the TC-SST and the U02 paint, can be purchased through the parts window.

1) 4 BBS wheels
2) 1 set of Bilstein shock absorbers
3) 1 set of Eibach springs
4) Leather/alcantara seat covers
5) 2 piece front rotors

If you look in the accessories catalog, it'll tell you the price in yen. Figure that you divide by 110, and add a 15% "import tax" that's probably the price.

And yes, I will be offering parts for sale to my Canadian compadres~! There's no immobilizer on them!

Things like suspension, brake rotors, putting tires on wheels, I don't want to do these things myself (no garage, no lift, etc.). Spoiler, I think I could do that with some good instructions :)

Anyway, I wish I could just buy a Lancer, drive it down to you for you to turn it into an Evo...

When you get official pricing and availability for the items, would you mind posting up a thread detailing what's available and what you could offer the items to our members for?

Thanks for the confirmation. The Rotors might be interesting too. I think I'm going KW Variant 3 for the suspension though.

Once the parts are available can we get a price for the covers and rotors?

Thanks again!

Absolutely, my brothers!

I'll be making OEM parts and accessories available to the EvoXForums at an EvoXForums ONLY priceline. I'll make sure to let you know what the list price is and then the EvoXForums price is so that you know how much you'd be saving! This would work out incredibly well for our Canadian bretheren as their savings would be two-fold!
