hii all,

i've been told by Vishnu tuning that the evo x mr can be safely tuned to 300 whp, and also was told from AMS that to stay before 400 whp,
anyone could shed some light about how much whp/wtq one can get without breaking the SST tranny ? if anything was tried by the aftermarket tuning companies?

btw, i've also heared that the SST tranny have a safty mechanism to prevent excess torque from breaking it, i dono how true this is?!

This topic is covered a lot on this forum. I have an MR myself and am waiting for feedback on people who have MRs and more that 300 AWHP. Do a search and you will find a lot of info on this topic.

i've read alot in about this topic in the forum, but nothing is for sure!
because ams people told me below 400whp is fine, but still it didnt gave any sort of relif, because its only an opinion, we need solid numbers!!
how much can the SST handle?!?!

AMS says anything under 400whp is fine. But wtf you gonna do about all the slipping? I heard people complaining about having 330wtq and clutch sipping like mad at lower gears. That cant be good for the life of that tranny.

Most of the claimed slipping is poor reprogramming ..

The SST has an engagement set point .. and the ECU is supposed to match that with the power .. you change that .. and the SST will not engage until the set points match up ..

Drive it long enough and the ECU will selflearn slowly ..

well i dont thing anyone wont be happy to get 400whp on the SST!!, but who dares to reach that point even with excellent reprogramming..

I believe Xtreem boost in Orlando Fl is working on a Clutch Kit.

Good numbers, what dyno was this on? There are different numbers on dynos, Mustangs underestimate. The best way is if you can post your baseline initial dyno tq and HP and the final HP and tq so we know how much you gained.

I talked with the people at AWD Motorsports Inc and they told me they have MRs doing 350 AWHP with out no problem.

Specialty X has a Trans update mentioned on their product page but it isn't a clickable product with info yet. Their company Evo is an MR too. I just asked about it tonight over on their Specialty X SS exhaust thread.

This was here at ams on our dynojet.

If you are looking to keep it safe i would stay round 350whp, we have tuned one on pump and meth to 350 or so and he has not had any problems with it so far. This was like 2 months ago.

this what i read from speciality X site:
We purchased our own 08 Evo X MR not long ago and we've already begun to tear into it.
Our plans are to dissect the car and improve upon its great platform. It will be seeing the 1\4 mile strip for testing on our own Twin-Clutch trans upgrades. Our turbo kit in development will help push our car to limits of our transmission and associated parts.

Stay tuned for more very soon!

Gunzo, is that SST engagement point something we can change in ECUFlash? Or is that in the separate tranny controller?

Yes .. its something you can set in the ECU .. I've been looking (not hard enough :D) at the workshop manual .. and its a request lookup ..

I do not know if the MR guys are getting it or at what power level before you get it .. but before I changed some of the table settings for SST (I think), the gearbox was jerky and shifting crazy .. like it was broke ..

Don't worry about the SST .. since I own one .. I will make the gearbox communications my priority too :whipping:

So should we, (we being US/CDN SST owners), NOT be flashing the 93OctIntExh rom you have posted in the other thread? I don't really want to kill my SST TOO early on :-P

Go ahead and use the maps .. It won't hurt the gearbox ..

Just had a dyno session on the car to finetune it .. not bad ..
its running 333whp :D

The current map I have is so torque crazy below 3000rpms the dyno couldn't damp the pickup .. even with progressive throttle .. peak torque was still at 3300rpms

how is the SST holding up with ur current WHP? is the shifting still smooth?

I've have had 300WHP for about 6 months and it's been 6000 miles. Trans still shift as new, actually it feels better than when new as it is very smooth, or maybe I'm getting used to how it shifts. Other than getting going in first from rest, car feel so strong and runs so hard that I'd hestitate to mess with the tune. I love the SST, much better than any other sequential box (single clutch) out there, and love the sport mode even more.
