Does the JDM Evo not have paddle shifters? I can't see them in either vid. Also, in the first vid, it seemed like he was in Sport until around 3:30 then moved the shifter and seemed to be in S-Sport until the end. So the JDM Evo can switch to S-Sport on the fly??? That would be sweet.

wth you talking about... you can clearly see him reach up and down to shift... honestly... they need to make paddles that move w/ the wheel lol...

No way man. I watched them both again and those guys are not moving their hands. You can't really see the right hand that well, but they are not moving the left. That's all SST. Plus my MR has humungous paddle shifter the size of a banana....you can't miss them.

I can't see the videos at work. But i bet they are not even shifting. They let the computer handle the shifting, it is smarter and quicker than the drivers i guess.

I still have an inate distrust of that trans on a modded car. I love the idea of it but would be too scared of a failure to actually buy one.

man I want that tune :P And I agree with shabarivas, why they don't stay with the wheel I have no idea. It's electronic there is no reason it couldn't stay with the wheel.

On the Honjo circuit it's the HKS CAMP2

The switch on the shifter is from full auto to manual ..

The paddles on the JDM is exactly the same ..

And yes .. that's how the JDM SST feels like on the track .. RAW !! :whipping:

OK, I watched the first one AGAIN. I zoomed in this time and I think I see the right paddle shifter when he turns to the right. I never do see the left shifter, it must be directly behind the wheel.

But, is he going from automatic to manual at around 3:20 and what mode is he in? Can you tell?

you know what .. I really don't know why he did that .. he just went from auto to manual and back to auto ..

Ah .. he's cycling the modes.. you can go manual just by pressing the paddles .. and to go back, you gotta press and hold the upshift paddle .. or cycle the stick shift ..

Yeah I agree with the cycling with the paddles, but why would someone be in auto, knock the stick over to manual, then instantly back to auto? My MR doesn't reset SST modes when moving the stick to auto/manual. That's the advantage of S-Sport manual.

Also, I hate to keep bringing this up, but Gunzo you say he went from "auto to manual and back to auto". So that means the SST was shifting, right?

yes we do get paddle shifters.
no we cannot switch to s-sport when the car is moving.

I think you're confused :D

He's in manual using the paddles to shift .. at the time you mentioned .. he went back to autoshift ..

You do 1 of 2 things to go back auto .. fastest was do what he did .. cycle the stickshift ..

Gotcha, thanks. I forgot about about manual while the stick is still in auto. I don't like it that way; I always knock it over when I want manual. To each his own. Anyone know how his times stand up at Fuji?

it looks like in the first video, that the steering wheel has possibly been retrofit with the ASC toggle switch.i dont know too much about JDM specs.

it will be evo x....evo is more planted/controlled, the rear wheel sometimes will drift and loss a few seconds from that. in top gear australia the BMW won in 1/4 mile but evo is still not bad... but see how it goes on lap cornering...jump to 2:50 sec...

In Top Gear Australia 370z got better time than Evo x. It was hard to believe and i still don't believe it.

Well they get the AUSDM / EDM cars ..

The car is slow .. side by side stock.. a USDM / JDM will kill the AusDM :D

a few things thats killing the AusDM Evo feel
weight - AusDM is very porky with all the extra stuffs
mapping - the mapping is so conservative you'd wonder if you jumped into a Toyota instead of an Evo
Emissions controls basically chokes the car :bowlol:

So next time you see a poor review from Australia /Europe.. don't be surprised ..

my old car had paddles on the wheel an i didn't like it. They are always at a diff spot when your turning.Or some times you hit them when changing your grip. I like the fact that the evo's don't move.
