Right now I am shopping for a car, but I'm debating what car to get.

-Honda Accord Coupe
-Evo X
-STI
-135i or tii (later)
or even the 2009 TSX that comes out later..which one?!

The STi has greater usability over all those cars.

How did the Accord make that list?

The STi has greater usability over all those cars.

The worst interior quality out of all of them. I was just in an 08 WRX and it was really hard not to blurt out in the showroom "wow this is garbage"

I'd definitely take the 135i over the STI, easy decision. Yes it's a little funny looking from some angles but the STI is funny looking from almost all angles.

That being said I really love the body styling of the new Outback Sport (impreza hatch). Headlights look way nicer with the chrome housing, grille and bumpers look better, etc. Of course that's comparing to the WRX not the STI but the STI fenders are just.. so.. eugh

Well, I don't know that the STI and WRX interiors are going to be the same. I have read reviews saying the STI interior is decent.

STI is too ugly...

1-series looks OK in my book, but its rwd, I need a AWD

so evo>1>sti.

How did the Accord make that list?

I guess because of reliability and price. 28k for V6 w/ countless standard features.

Though, I really love what they've done with the evo x. Redesigned the exterior/interior and the TC-SST toped it off, however, doesn't the evo and the sti have the highest insurance rates?

I'm a pre-dental student now, so, mmm, nothing to fancy eh? Maybe even the 128i. Who knows - still deciding.

Going to the SF Auto Show this week. I guess that'll determine my decision.

WRX interior != STi interior.

The STi interior is actually pretty nice.

Right, but it's not even in the same league in terms of performance.

The STi interior is actually pretty nice.

90% of the plastics are the same. Same dash, same door panels, same center console.. yeah they change the shift knob, maybe steering wheel, the seats obviously, pedals.. but the primary pieces are all the same, and incredibly low quality. Didn't I just say that? :freak:

The interior design that looked to be a winner in photos also looked way crap in person sitting in it. but seriously just a sea of hard black ABS plastic.. definitely crossed it off my list if it was ever even near being on my list (it wasn't).

They'd have to do another 9-2x Aero (they won't) for me to get into an impreza, otherwise they're way too ugly. I really think the interior quality that was always a concern in the previous gen impreza was just taken to another level of bad :(

After sampling the MkV GTI the day before it was hard to fathom how anyone could spend 27800 on such a horribly sub-economy interior. Yes, I know it has great performance, but so does the GTI, for less money (and less drive wheels = much better fuel economy) and with amazing interior quality.

VW is crap, get over it.

Moreover, no matter how "quality" you think the interior of the VW is, it's an illusion. I'm not sure how you define a fast car, but the new GTI isn't one of them. If you want to get down to brass tax, the MS3 absolutely destroys what the GTI has to offer. Lower price? Maybe if you want the stripped down version, with decent options its over 28k. You can get a fully loaded MS3 for 25.

I test drove the '08 WRX Wagon before and I did not throw up over the interior. It didn't seem that bad, but I've been driving the Ford a lot so I guess it seemed better by comparison.

When I get the chance to sit in an STi i'll give you my impressions but when I say usability I mean the 2 door coupe isn't going to cut it. Want something to load my bikes on and fit a group of people in for a trip to the mountains.

well I hate leather and moonroofs so a GTI optioned the way I want is 24700 MSRP (just the premium sound system over the base).

that's with 17s instead of 18s too because they charge too much for that. If the MS3 wasn't so ugly I'd consider it. I think the GTI has the ideal amount of power for a small FWD car. The MS3 has too much..

Mr. Win I definitely get what you're sayin about the 2-door 135i not being practical enough for ya, but if the OP was trying to decide between the two the practicality probably isn't a problem.

I'm still trying to convince my GTI-entranced roommate to get the MX-5 PRHT instead .. hidden hitch + hitch bike rack = win :) the same can be said for the 135i but it can fit 4 people in a pinch (assuming all four people aren't a whole lot over 6 feet tall).

No such thing as too much power, but there such thing as not enough traction, especially for the FWD.

You're clearly high. The newer STis have a decent interior in them. Better than the one in your Protege, at least.

the GTI has an even nicer interior, but it's lightyears behind the STi in terms of performance. Plus, the GTI is a VW, which means it will inherently catch on fire on the side of the road.

I'm talking about the new sti, not the 02-07 interior. Unless they change the dash, the door panels, the headliner (seriously.. go open and close a visor on one and you'll hear what I mean), and the center console, it's really subpar.

Find me this car.

Moreover, I personally I don't think the MS3 is very fast. I can be made pretty fast, but it's not earth-shattering stock. Not by a long shot. The GTI feels like it should be faster. The feeling is cemented every time you put your foot on the floor and the go-fast turns into golf-cart.

I haven't been able to flog the GTI or MS3.. driven both but not hard enough to scare a salesman.

I'd still get the 135i over the STI though

Even I can get behind that. The new "temporary" STI looks like a forrester with down syndrome.

That's retarded. The STI has a place, it is a fat bulgy jelly bean, with an internal beast trying to break out. For what I want it would have to be the STI over the 135i. Not even really sure why these two cars would even be compared in the first place (who started this stinking thread?).
