Hey, welcome to the forum.
Many of us are in the same boat as you: we want the MR, but we want a classic manual. However, Mitsu won't give us the option.
The differences between the MR and the GSR are well documented here, but in a nutshell, the GSR lacks 2 piece front rotors, upgraded suspension, alloy wheels, Phantom Black color, the SST trans, leather seats, chrome trim, and a few electronic toys.

So swap with someone who gets an MR. Seats are easily swappable. Transmissions are not.

I thought the leather seats for the mr where an option on top of everything else for like another $1200.

Just get the MR, you'll love it, you'll be in the modern age, you'll have everything you want.
