Accurate, Dependable,
Compact, and Easy-to-Use

The G2X, a GPS-based data acquisitions system, evolved from years of use in various motorsports. Its small antenna obtains data (lap/segment times, track mapping, speed, etc.) while lateral and accel g-forces are provided from internally-mounted accelerometers and RPM and other inputs come from external sensors. Click here for more info.

To install, mount the data logger on the dash, connect power, and secure the antenna on top of the vehicle. The G2X saves data to a 128MB Compact Flash card for downloading to a PC for review, and analysis is performed using Racepak's Datalink II software. The display allows you to set the start/finish area while on the track, providing immediate access to vital data, and the memory enables you to recreate a GPS-plotted track map and assign the desired start/finish and segment markers for accurate timing data. This "virtual reality" track is saved on the software, and maps can be recalled to compare lap and segment times from various test/race sessions.

Yes, a buddy of mine uses it in his S2000. He has the G2X Pro. It's definitely a nice unit.

We used the G2X on our 2008 Formula SAE car. Great system.

The GUI is Fairly easy to use and gives great depth. GPS system is really accurate and works really well in mapping out a track digitally, just by driving the course.

However, the GPS transmitter must have a line of sight with a minimum of 4 satellites if i remember correctly, so it needs to be in an open position to have good data logging. Also, the unit needs rigid mounting as close to the center of mass as possible to show proper G loading.

All in all really good system and i recommend it.

EDIT: Also, if you want the best data possible, you will need to tap into your throttle position sensor or a +5V digital ECU output set to Throttle Position Readout (if using a custom ECU). This will give a better readout on speed, accel, G's vs. throttle applied. We used ours in conjunction with a Performance Electronics PE-ECU-1, if anyone is interested.

I had a buddy in college that made one of these for our Senior Design Projects

He mounted his underneath the center console so that he could get a fairly decent G reading.
