: Quick ecuflash question regarding warranty
rageagtm 02-26-2009, 03:26 AM Hey all,
I am sure this has been addressed somewhere, but I have gone through a dozen threads and cant seem to find it.
I am looking to get some ecuflash tuning done soon, and just wanted to confirm whether or not it is factory detectable if i roll back to stock and take in for service.
I have heard things regarding flash counters and datestamps.. and also heard thats not a factor so just wanted to clear it up as I want to keep warranty :)
--Lastly, suggestions on pill or MBC for the tuning? Car is bone stock and with luck would like to get about 300whp. Debating also on getting an AEM intake, though if i can make 300 without it would rather save up for exhaust or rims!
Thanks in advance
TargeT 02-26-2009, 03:55 AM if your only shooting for 300whp go with the pill. (its only like $15)
as for the ECU flash counter.. well i could easily see it being true but have no facts :(
rageagtm 02-26-2009, 04:07 AM hehe, thanks.. i just would rather avoid dealer complications as car is still pretty new.
More than 300 would be great, but bone stock at 300 i would still be happy.. Scared of what my baseline run before tune will say tho haha

The less it says..the more impressive the jump to 300 will be. Think of it that way and you won't be upset either way ;)
rageagtm 02-26-2009, 04:17 AM hahaha, very true!!!
verkion 02-26-2009, 07:24 AM I'm trying to remember if there was a "date of last flash" in there somewhere as opposed to a flash counter. I honestly can't remember. Someone eluded to that before...

you'll need the tactrix cable ($169 or somthen) LC-1 Wideband $199 (you can go with out, but shouldnt) and the pill is $18. so thats prety cheap to hit 300+whp, the exact number depends on your octane, elevation, ambiant temps and how quickly you pick up on tuning.
rageagtm 02-28-2009, 01:40 AM any word on IF the dealer can see EcuFlash or if this is false? :)

From what I've read, as long as you flash the stock map back on, the dealer can't tell you used ECUFlash. However, according to a post by Gunzo, it looks like there is a "last flashed timestamp." So the dealer would be able to see when the car was last flashed.
rageagtm 03-02-2009, 03:31 AM yeah thats what worrys me. If i have a few maps like fuel miser, low octane, etc.. I could just say i got it done while out of state or something and they must not be showing it in records lol.

Disconnect the SAT antennae from the MMCS, assuming you have a nav system installed, then disconnect the battery long enough for the clock to reset itself. Non-MMCS systems may vary.
Then whenever the ignition is switched on the date/time will start at 0200 Hrs January 01, 2005. Then flash/unflash/whatever. Reconnect the antennae and you're good to go again.

Here's the problem :( Even if it was done out of state, the dealer should have submitted a warranty claim that would then show up in Mitsu's nationwide database. Every dealer should be able to pull up records showing any service done to the vehicle at another dealership, from my understanding. Someone tell me I'm wrong ;)

Nothing to do with service histories, btw.
rageagtm 03-03-2009, 02:34 AM hmm, i do have the navi so this method works then? what we do for horsepower lol!!

I already told you the path to 300hp, sounds like you have a LOT of studying to do ;)
or you can spend a bit more and have someone tune your car ( a lot more):shades:
rageagtm 03-03-2009, 06:57 AM lol, "what we do for horsepower" is figurative for what the things we go through to have power ;)
