Does anyone know how much it costs to purchase an ipod cable connector? Also does anyone know what the installation is on it, such as; difficulty, time, work, etc.

Should be under the AC controls, behind the cigarette lighter.

If you have basic, you need to buy the "ipod cable" from mitsu. Basicly it is just 3 plugs that plug into the back of your stereo and then the main wire can be ran to your glove box or something. Its basicly a headphone plug on the "ipod" side and makes it an aux cable.

Search for iPod in the audio section and you will find a thread with the part number for the cable and a step by step how to install it. That's what I used and its pretty east.

i called my mitsu dealership and they said they have the cable for $70 (hawaii prices!) so then i pm'd RussellM over on evolutionm.net cuz hes got a thread selling OEM parts from the dealership he works at in washington, and i got it from him for like $40 shipped... so basically i got it from a dealership.

is there any other part that can be substituted?

im sure there are cables/combinations of such that can be substituted but this was the easiest way i found

call up your local dealership, believe me the install is very easy. the hardest part was taking out the pins to make room for the pins on the cable.

i got mine in about a week when i ordered from RussellM, and $43 shipped to hawaii was a hell of a lot better than the $70 my dealer was quoting. shoot him a pm, he'll hook you up.

Its just a red/white/headset plug cord.... not even walmart can sell them for much. Got mine for like 3 bucks.

Plus if you buy the kit from mitsu.... its not actually the RCA plugs that most people have. THe kit itself is just the headphone jack that plugs directly into the back of the stereo. Not as clean if you ask me.

he's saying that his model doesn't have the aux plugs.

I use mine but I'd like a real "ipod" cable to control everything via the stereo.

I know this... which is why i said that the kit from mitsu sort of combines the aux plugs that others have below their AC unit, with the cable that plugs in between the Ipod and the aux plugs. It literally plugs in directly from the back of the stereo head unit using 3 wires and into the headphone jack of the Ipod.

No cable or addon is able to control or charge the Ipod with the Mitsu stereo's. It sucks... but thats how it is.

tht is a nice writeup on the install, but it is not for an EVO... anyone know what (if any) the differences are with an EVO install? is the wiring harness exactly the same as that?
