What does this thing really do? The ad is like, plug this thing in and you will have Ferrari performance.

It will give you the motor from the Ferrari f-40.

It makes the drive by wire more responsive. Also, it will open the throttle body to full 100% So a little more power.

Does this little device defeat the purpose of the CobbTunning box that flashes the ecu? or will it work with it?

it will work with it. they have nothing to do with each other. very easy to install also
