: Just Got My Evo X
Here's my EvoX, I got the spoiler kit which is kinda rare so I uploaded a few pics.
BTW, I just finished installing an alarm system in it so if there are any peeps out there that need to know the wiring or anything, just ask.
Jackygor 12-07-2007, 05:41 AM I really like the spoiler kit with the wicked white...
can you take more pictures?!
Oh review ASAP PLEASEEEEE....
Wow congrats! Take assloads more pics please. And yes we should have a how-to section.

Oh review ASAP PLEASEEEEE....
I can take more pics, what angle do you want me to take them from???
I haven't really driven it much yet so I can't really give a good review.
So far, the low and mid range torque feels pretty good, high end is kinda average. It feels alot slower than my old R32 GTR, but my GTR was modified to 620HP. I didn't get the High Performance suspension kit since I plan on buying after market ones, so there is alot of rolling in corners.
I'll post more pics and reviews after I get used to the car and order some parts for it.

I live in Kanagawa, like 20 miles from Tokyo. If you're talking about that pinkish building in the side view pic, that's an apartment with like 4 rooms.
on2it 12-07-2007, 07:29 AM Looks beautiful in white!

Congratulations! The white looks beautiful.
I'll start making some technical categories this afternoon. Perhaps you can post some informational threads on the alarm and radio modifications?
Thank you very much! I'm jealous!
wickedchimp 12-07-2007, 05:50 PM According to new-car-discount.com, white colored cars (http://www.egmcartech.com/2007/04/20/top-10-hottest-white-cars-white-colored-cars-making-a-comeback/#) are making a huge comeback as buyers shift away from popular black, silver and red. According to a study done by the company, 62 percent of cars sold in the last six months were white. So we decided to go on a little hunt and find the best looking white colored cars. Below is the list we compiled of the Top 10 hottest white cars by category.

EzeE1o 12-07-2007, 05:54 PM yeah, white cars ftw....my current car is premium white pearl, and if the X (or detuned ralliart) have a similar color, thats what i'll get
DaemonSadi 12-07-2007, 06:02 PM Hmmm am I blind? What is the spoiler kit doing differently? Is it referring to the front lip? I thought it was a rear spoiler package but the rear spoiler looks the same as the others @_@
Edit: That side shot... omg... so gorgeous
k-lea 12-07-2007, 06:24 PM I want pics of this house he is at.
Looks really killer. I looooooove the white.
Compliments the car so well. Beautiful contrast with the black outlining.

cksdayoff 12-07-2007, 09:41 PM i can't decide between white and black.
srsly.
What's the exact name of that trim kit? I definitely want it.
In Japan it's called the High Performance Aero Kit, no clue what they'll call it in other countries. It consists of the front lip, side steps, and rear side air dam (on the sides of the rear bumper).
BTW, I just ordered some wheels for it today, Weds SA70 BLC (Blue Light Chrome) 18 x 9.0J. I should be getting them in a few days, will post new pics when the wheels are on.

Those are nice indeed!
DaemonSadi 12-08-2007, 04:10 AM Sexy wheels!!! That body kit looks so nice... It definitely eliminates the need for any other future body kit, and almost eliminates the need for an aggressive drop. I would probably want performance suspension but with that kit doesn't really need to go much lower in my eyes!

AMAZING! i love the X even more now. Wicked white is the color to get!
where'd you get your window visors at?
Kooldino 12-08-2007, 05:38 AM Quick and dirty chop color matching the front grille. I prefer it stock...

Visors were an option, cost like $200 US extra.
BTW, the color of my car isn't solid white, it's actually white pearl but you can barely see the pearl. The paint itself was also an option, had to pay about $300 US extra.

That's a JDM thing, unfortunately Aspec cars never have tinted rears from the factory, excluding SUVs.
The color of the wheels are kinda hard to describe, dark bluish chrome? I plan on dropping the car about 2 inches or so.
I'll be getting a new exhaust system, adjustable ride height suspension, air intake, etc. as they become available.
Wow that was quick, thanks for the pics again SiC. Mind telling us what offset you got? Looks way better than stockers!

Jackygor 12-10-2007, 09:23 AM Love the wheels! Looking forward to the drop
Hey SiC, are you planning to change your dampers and springs?
Yes, I'll be getting some adjustable ride height suspension. Maybe HKS, Trust, JIC, Cusco, Tein, Rally Art, etc. Nobody makes (sells) them yet, but I plan on getting it as soon as they are available. Same with the exhaust and intake kits, nobody makes (sells) them yet.
wan888 12-10-2007, 10:36 AM Hi SiC,

Hi SiC,
Hey, where can we get suspension for our X? I'm looking for something to lower my car.
According to the HKS site, they are still working on the suspension kit. Other companies don't have anything listed for the Evo X yet either. I talked to some guys at a local shop and they said alot of parts for the Evo X maybe delayed due to the SST being delayed (delayed till Jan). When they make suspension parts they need to test them on both models due to weight difference.
I see you bypassed the catalytic converter and installed a water temp & boost gauge. Is that a boost controller or a gauge control unit on your steering column cover? I also noticed the peek hold on your boost gauge, it's registering 1.5kg/m. Is that boost standard? Or is that the boost after you made all the mods?
BTW do you know what the standard boost is on the Evo X? I heard it's 1.3kg/m but I never got a true confirmation from a real Evo X owner.
Aptom 12-10-2007, 11:10 AM :props:
cksdayoff 12-10-2007, 11:31 AM wan888 and SiC both delivered in the past couple of pages of this thread.
Wan888,
I just checked the RS-R site and they have the adjustable ride height suspension listed for the Evo X. The price is about $1500 US, you can see pics of it on their blog site:
http://minkara.carview.co.jp/userid/255681/blog/6976526/
Attached is a picture of a phantom black GSR with the suspension on it.
_Chris_ 12-10-2007, 11:52 AM ^ Now thats the ideal height I would like to get.
gumby 12-10-2007, 12:33 PM Hi SiC,
I'm awaiting my SST... any idea when in Jan the SST will arrive? Thanks very much.
wickedchimp 12-10-2007, 12:53 PM Is that a boost controller or a gauge control unit on your steering column cover?
Looks like a turbo timer.

Yeah, you definitely need a drop to fill that wheel gap.
Like the contrast of the rims vs your paint though.

mmmm...i love tein! I had the flex on my eclipse...it was great. There will be alot more companies that make suspension for the X so Im definitely gonna wait to see which one floats to the top.
dimviii 12-10-2007, 07:10 PM maybe at these photos you can recognise better the type of rim..

wickedchimp 12-10-2007, 08:04 PM What's the name of the Tein that has the electromagnetic damper setting?
The controller is called the edfc. I know for sure that it is compatible with the FLEX system but I think you can hook it up to most of their suspension systems. It just fits on top of each of the strut towers and you mount the controller with in reach.

So is it basically just a solenoid that adjusts the manual damper setting?
How much extra is the controller?

wickedchimp 12-10-2007, 08:48 PM So is it basically just a solenoid that adjusts the manual damper setting?

Yea its just an electronic solenoid that switches between the different settings. They are $380 for the controller and the 4 solenoids.
Kooldino 12-10-2007, 08:52 PM Man, $380 is steep! But I guess it's only money.

I called a Tein dealer and they told me that they are still in development. They think it should be out sometime in January.
SST is suppose to be pushed back to mid January according to the Mitsubishi dealer I bought my car from.
zenmaster 12-11-2007, 02:58 AM I checked the tein website. All of the coilovers are still in development. Man seeing all these photos of EVO X makes me jealous.....When I go back to Hong Kong this xmas I am hunting your car down Wan888.
wan888 12-11-2007, 03:46 AM Hi Sic,
Yeah, that's the standard boost peak recorded from my car after de-cat. My advice, do the cat immediately, it's another world. The X is really too slow in original state.
The RS-R suspension seems quite expensive but I like that ride height.
Other things I did are just turbo timer, water temp gauge and the performance pack styling. I'm going to change those to carbon instead, hoping to bring up some contrast.

1.5 bar = 21.75psi
Wow thats pretty high for a factory turbo. I would love to see an efficiency graph on this turbo. Wonder how much more it can handle.

Sorry wan888, I got another question for you. The Evo X has one main catalytic converter near the middle of the car, there is another resonator looking thing between the main catalytic converter and the muffler. Is that actually a resonator or is it a secondary catalytic converter? If it was a secondary cat, you must feel a huge difference after removing both of them.
I'm waiting on JIC to start selling their suspension kit, they're usually about $500 US cheaper than TEIN or RS-R. Since all of these companies will be making adjustable height suspension, you can make any of them look the same as the RS-R one (ride height).
shadowsong6 12-12-2007, 01:38 AM You know, the more pics I see of this car, the more the front end looks like an R34 Skyline... not a bad thing though, those are good looking cars too.
:thinkbubble:
DaemonSadi 12-12-2007, 02:02 AM I wish we could de-cat cars in the states. Does the car still pass inspection where you live Wan?
wickedchimp 12-12-2007, 06:43 AM You can de-cat cars in the states. You just wont find too many shops that will do it for you. Order the exhaust and do it yourself. I used to have an eclipse with a big16g, 550cc injectors, 190lph fuel pump, 3 inch exhaust from the turbo back and it passed inpection fine in Texas. They hook up to the odb2 connector and put a sensor in the tail pipe here.
_Chris_ 12-12-2007, 11:21 AM I havent had a CC in my car for almost 3 years.
DaemonSadi 12-14-2007, 01:38 PM What if I live in NJ? Will I really still pass inspection?

DaemonSadi 12-14-2007, 07:43 PM Yes I live in NJ. Thank you very much for that! One question, how does that fool the reader that they use? They stick that thing in the tailpipe, so wouldn't the exhaust coming through be the same whether or not you trick the o2 sensor?
Spiritech 12-15-2007, 06:11 AM Congrats on the X; white looks awsome. I'm soo very jealous...at leat until mine arrives that is.
Kooldino 12-15-2007, 03:33 PM Yes I live in NJ. Thank you very much for that! One question, how does that fool the reader that they use? They stick that thing in the tailpipe, so wouldn't the exhaust coming through be the same whether or not you trick the o2 sensor?
They won't stick the sniffer in your tailpipe if you have a '96 or later car. They changed the laws a few years ago so that if you have an OBD-II equipped car, they just do a scan of the computer, and so long as there are no codes or no pending codes, you're clean.
DaemonSadi 12-16-2007, 02:51 PM Ahhh really? That's cool. I coulda swore they stuck that thing in my tailpipe last time I went. Maybe they were just slow on following the new rules :P By the time I get my X inspected it will be fine ^^
silvreclipse 12-16-2007, 08:41 PM cant go catless here it will fail inspection in a heart beat. well depends where you too some turn on the car and and other lift the car to make sure.
Lock & Load 12-16-2007, 09:51 PM Nice pics and info guys , how much louder is the car without the cat ?
Cheers
Michael
soopah 12-16-2007, 09:58 PM In BC they use a tailpipe sensor. I believe our AirCare testing only starts after your car is something like 4 or 5 years old and then only every two years (they doubled the fee when it changed from one year to two years).
wan888 12-17-2007, 06:12 AM Sorry for getting back so late ...
Sic, I basically took everything possible out from the exhaust .. cat, resonator .. now, leaving just the muffler there. It's quite a big difference ...
We used to have a Evo8 MR with stock turbo and exhaust, once we took off the cat it shoots to 1.8bar.
I think a boost controller is necessary as it's kinda too high i think.

Hi Wan888, will you be doing a dyno run to see what your making ATW's after that or have you got a few more mods to come before that?
Also SIC are you also decatting and doing your full exhaust?
Lock & Load 12-17-2007, 08:14 AM Before and after Dyno figures would be nice .

Thats how Ive been getting away with my turbo-back. My car is registered in OH. But ours is '00 or later cars.

Difference in what? Power? Sound?

Jesus.
What was the boost level before and after the exhaust with your X?
I think a boost controller is necessary as it's kinda too high i think.
A boost controller is generally only useful for raising your boost pressure over stock. However, it depends on how the wastegate and such is set up from the factory.
GRK EVO X 12-18-2007, 06:26 AM would Bilstein Coilovers ( PSS9) . be any better then Tien coilovers for the evo X??
i have the pss9 Bilstien on my C230k coupe benz and it was worth every penny
fast money 12-18-2007, 10:20 PM Wow congrats on the new car Sic! that is a beauty!
Did you have a chance to really get on the car or is it still in the break in period? Let us know the verdict! I am intersted in seeing how the car performs with the S-AWC on and off. I wonder how easy it will be to chuck the X around and get real loose with it turned off.
what is the overall verdict you would say on the X in japan? I just saw it won the "most fun car" of the year over there already.

I have tried TEIN Flex and HA models before in my previous ride and my vote goes to Bilstein or Ohlins DFV if you can afford it.

The fog lights are optional in Japan, and yes I kept the stock tires for now.
So how much did the rims cost?

amielm 01-10-2008, 03:00 PM SiC, can you post a pic of the rear seats and the leg room? I'm really curious how an adult will look riding at the back. By the way, very nice. My first post too. :godance:

eVo Stance 01-11-2008, 01:10 PM The Evo X is beautiful SiC. I alway's wanted to see an Evo in Pearl White. I think I want an Evo X now!!! I wonder if they will respond to mods aswell as the IX's do?...IX's make ATLEAST 330whp with just TBE, boost controller, and tune. I wonder if the X's are any better...does anyone know?
Nice car you got there bro!

NO ONE KNOWS YET!!!!
eVo Stance 01-16-2008, 10:43 AM NO ONE KNOWS YET!!!!
Haha. I can't wait to see how a modded Evo X would compare to a modded 08 STi. I'm sure just a TBE will put the X ahead of the STi as in drag times.
Robotix Junior 01-17-2008, 09:35 AM I agree, i am trying to get an X sorted out at the moment, but i keep being told that my order has been delayed :( I just wanna rip the shit out of the B411T and see what ravishing beast i can create!

The JDM model Evo X doesn't come with a stereo (optional). So when I received mine, there was nothing there, just a space to install a stereo/navigation. The size is a standard 2 DIN size, no face plate or trim required.

See I just thought that it got stolen already. I wish they did that for the U.S models.

Sic have you lowered your X yet?
Nope, still waiting for more companies to make them. Same with the exhaust, the only one out right now is HKS and it's suppose to be really "silent". I'd rather have some exhaust tone when I upgrade mine.
But I should be getting my EVC & Defi boost gauge soon.
*Update
I just ordered my EVC 5 & Defi Boost Gauge with controller. I'll post some pics after I install it.
