: Can't connect PC and X Tactrix/ECUflash
Iconzx6r 03-17-2009, 12:40 AM Help, I feel like a tard right now. I have Ecuflash, I plug tactrix 2.0 in OBD and PC, turn two clicks on ignition to "on" position, and nothin. Ecuflash just sits there and I none of the buttons are available. It just says "no vehicle interface" down in the corner like it always does. Anyone else have this happen?
flagg77 03-17-2009, 12:49 AM I've had that happen when i left my logger (pcmscan) connected.
is the tactrix "on"? You should see the LED's on the tactrix slowly oscillating colors.
Does your pc show that the usb device is being loaded?
Iconzx6r 03-17-2009, 01:05 AM I gots no LEDs. It seems like a driver problem or something. Would have been nice for SOME kind of directions or program cd. On the openport page I should just have to download the ECUflash file right? not the one below that says "openport 2.0 - not for ECU flash users"?
Seems like an issue with your device drivers. You should uninstall & reinstall ECUFlash and then plug in the OP2. As soon as you plug it in, your PC should say "found new hardware", etc. and install the drivers for you. Once that is finished, make sure ECUFlash sees your cable and then connect it to your car's OBD2 port.
Iconzx6r 03-17-2009, 01:41 AM I don't get the "found new hardware" action. I have Service Pack 3... I hope I don't have a bad cable! I'm going to try other PCs I guess. This is frustrating.
gunzo 03-17-2009, 01:57 AM Try changing cables .. I've been having issues with the cables supplied by colby .. I'm sending mine back for him to figure out if its a batch problem ..
Iconzx6r 03-17-2009, 02:09 AM Man I've tried 3 cables on 3 PCs with Ecuflash installed...I got nothin. The only thing I need in the plastic OBD part is the cable right? I don't need to have anything in the thin slot or the circular hole? And you don't need it hooked to the car for the PC to recognize it right? :wallbash: Thanks for helpin guys.
flagg77 03-17-2009, 02:15 AM With car off, plugin in the tactrix.
Start the car or just put it in the "on" position.
The taxtrix cable should start its little light show. If your NOT seeing lights its not a driver, might be the unit itself?
Also, correct me if i'm wrong but whether you had the correct drivers or not, if you plugged the tactrix cable in to your pc, windows should still say its found new hardware, and try to find drivers for that HW....Yup, i just tested on another laptop i have and the device will light up and windows will see the new hardware even if the proper drivers are not installed.

Open up device manager and see if you have an unknown device connected ..
The computer is not recognising the cable ..
Iconzx6r 03-17-2009, 02:25 AM No lights. I'm sending it back. Damn, I wanted to try some maps and debadge my trunk tonight; instead I wasted the entire night trying to connect this thing. Oh well, thanks again all. I'll see ya on the Ecuflash maps thread when I get a replacement.
flagg77 03-17-2009, 02:44 PM That sucks man. Sorry to hear you got a bad one right out of the gate.
Iconzx6r 03-18-2009, 02:54 AM Well the story goes I ordered Friday and got it Monday, so that was super-fast. And I emailed them last night with my probs and a link to this thread, and they already have another one in the mail!! Colby FTW! Great customer service.
TargeT 03-18-2009, 03:08 AM once you get a working one you'll see why there's no instructions, its pretty damn easy :)
goodluck!
