: Remote starter solutions for Canada?
RallyCanada 12-10-2007, 09:11 PM Just wanted to throw this out there and see if any of our electronics inclined members have an idea on how to wire up a remote start with the FAST key technology. It gets mighty cold up here, so it would sure be a boon to have my MR Premium have a remote start on it.
Thanks everyone!
Kooldino 12-10-2007, 09:16 PM I was under the impression that FAST had a remote start built in?
I may be wrong though.
RallyCanada 12-10-2007, 09:29 PM I'm thinking that it does not, or that probably would have been listed on the features page. Also, my dealer said that it's going to be a challenge, so I'm guessing that it's not on there. God I hope you are right...
Rated X 01-04-2008, 03:40 AM If you have a fast key, does it mean that there is a push start button?
Kooldino 01-04-2008, 05:32 AM I believe it does. Or at least something similar to a push start button.
verkion 01-04-2008, 07:09 AM It has a plastic cap over the ignition that you turn if I remember correctly. Push button start is in that Lancer Accessories catelogue, (the japanese one with all the aero kits and lighting), so no, not standard.

Robotix Junior 01-10-2008, 03:29 PM But why would you want to reduce your security by having the car remote start?
Kooldino 01-10-2008, 03:41 PM Because it's nice to let the car warm up in the winter before you get into it.
7:50 - wake up
7:51 - open garage door with remote button
7:52 - start evo
8:05 - plant butt into evo that's warmed up, not ice cold
LowUFO 01-10-2008, 05:46 PM Especially once the car gets some tuning and it will drive horrible when its cold. My WRX is like that. If it doesn't get to operating temp before setting off, it bogs down and stuff. So I use remote start whenever its cold and love every minute of it. The Compustar has been super reliable for going on three years now. They had to replace the handheld remote a few times but the actual alarm/starter works great and works through two floors of concrete parking lot 100 yards away from my house..
Robotix Junior 01-14-2008, 10:08 AM Yes, but why leave a car unlocked and running, may as well get a neon sign saying "Come take me, im free!"
Red Dragon 01-22-2008, 09:37 PM ^ Ummm that is the whole point of a remote car starter. It eliminates the fact that you have to leave the key in the ignition to warm up your car. Car starters allow you to start the car with a remote and not your key. Car starters are worth it in canada.
Robotix Junior 01-25-2008, 08:41 AM Yeah, maybe in Canada, but not in Brighton. Still, I'm moving back to San Diego soon, so will probs get a few Remote Starter kits for a new arsenal of cars. I know i said i was gunna be setting up Business in Brighton, but due to heavy relationship issues, i have decided to return to the homies where i belong, living the high life.
rhyminreazon 02-07-2008, 10:44 PM you dont have to unlock the car to start it with a remote start. just press the start button. if someone was to get into your car while it is runnin with a remote start, as soon as the touch the break or gas it will stall.

You talkin about Brighton Beach? Brooklyn?
Wicked White 10-09-2008, 04:24 PM Yes, but why leave a car unlocked and running, may as well get a neon sign saying "Come take me, im free!"
usually, with most remote starters, if you try to drive it without the keys, as soon as you put your foot on the break it will shut off. You have to put the key in first then drive.
and my FAST key has no aux button, nor any way of remote starting my gsr. 3 buttons- alarm, trunk, unlock, and lock. it does not come standard, you have to order it i believe.
the plastic holder just covers up the key hole which you can use if your having problems with your FAST
and you can still install a remote starter and keep your FAST unharmed, you will just be carrying around two remotes, but makes sense, because you will never take the FAST key out of your pocket anyways.
ExtremeEvo 03-16-2009, 12:42 AM Remote starters in these cars are not an issue. I am about to install one in my car this week. Fortin makes a bypass module that the car learns as another key. It is only active when the remote starter is running so no security problems and no key left in the car. Also the car will remain locked while running. The module is a TB-MITS2. Here is a link to it. Use it in conjunction with the remote starter. I use Compustar systems.
