: How Economic it'll Get?

Hi, I'm a new member, and also a fan of Mitsubishi cars (sorta):godance:

Mitsubishi offers great value of best technology in Evo X. With the newly designed engine 4B11T, which is made from aluminum and offers lighter weight and better power to weight ratio.

My question is, how economic the fuel consumtion will be?

You see, i want to buy a sports car next year. But I'm confused with the 'myths' that Evo are a 'girl' with an appetite for rubber (tires) and liquor (gas)

Is it true that Evo's fuel consumption is worse and the 'she' eats tires fastly?:(

welcome and enjoy your stay:)

i think it was stated at 17/22 mpg.as far as tires go depends how light or heavy you are on the throttle.

17/22 sounds wrong to me for some reason, but it could be that.

As far as tires go, it will eat them about as fast as any other sports car...which heavily depends on how it's driven.

I'd plan on 25K-30K miles per set of tires on average.

I think you've got yourself a high maintenance girl, needs the premium vodka martini, drinks like a fish, and goes through more shoes than Imelda.

Couldn't have said it better. Keep in mind that Fuel economie and sport cars should never be in the same sentence.

Greetings. I think it will eat as much as your right foot allows.
So far fuel consumption has been better than my Evo II.
I will post accurate figures this weekend on fuel consumption but it should be the same if not slightly better than the Evo 8 and 9.

So how much in Litre/Kms?

I live in Indonesia, and I don't know how to convert MpG into Lt/Kms

City/Highway: 17/22 mpg (USA) = 13.8/10.7 litres/100 km (rest of the world)

In Canada they sometimes mess with us and advertise mpg (UK) which would be 20.4/26.4 mpg (UK), but this is bordering on deceit, IMO, because the only time we see mpg ratings are in US ads, then the mpg (UK) sounds better than it really is.

Whew...i though 'she' will drink mor than that...

Think I'll just buy EvoX anyways...better start looking for prices here. I'm gonna call the dealer now

Wish me luck, okay?

With those numbers, i'm thinking a yearly average of $1500 in gas money. Ouch!

I can see the 17/22. My AWD Talon gets about 15/20 with minimal boosting.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I'm getting about 6.5 km per liter in Japan. But this is daily driving in stop & go traffic, on the expressway it may go up to about 10km per liter.

Ouch. I guess I'm just used to lightweight and FWD.

6.5 (kilometers per liter) = 15.288948 miles per gallon

Ouch. :(

Are you serious? I Won't buy X then if the fuel economy's worse than Vette with V8

But if you think about traffic, then I guess it can't be helped...cars tend to get more worse in fuel economy in traffic condition

So, I have to ask to those who have bought X.
How much it spend on gas (traffic condition)
How much it spend on gas (normal road condition/ no traffic)

I am not being a jerk or anything, but (not many) sport cars are not exactly fuel efficient. And if you worry about gas THAT much, you should consider other cars such as civic SI or S2k, N/A four banger with high rev so when you want performance you can stay near redline.

And besides, if you can afford an evo x, I am sure you can also have money for gas, insurance, and maintenance.

I don't quite get the question but in Japan it's about $6.00 per gallon for premium gas and the tank is about 13.5 gallons. So I spend about $80.00 on a full tank of gas. That full tank of gas lasts me about 1 week, I've had the car for about 3 weeks so I spent about $240.00 USD on gas. On 1 full tank of gas I can drive about 350kms.

I usually drive without taking the engine past 3000 rpm and get about 6.5km per liter, if I stomp on it, I'll probably only get about 3km per liter.

Like others have said, it's hard to find a sports car with good gas milage. But believe it or not, it's suppose to be better than the older Evos.

I wonder how much intake and exhaust will help fuel economy, if it will help at all?

You read my mind.

Some ECU tweaking will probably help too.

under 3000, and you get 6.5 km/ litres?

things are just getting worse and worse...

silvreclipse

wow 240 in three weeks that bad.but then again its premium and 6 per gallon so it would be where i live its about 41 dollars for a tank of gas and 123 for three weeks.

You can't expect anything AWD/4WD to get good mileage...the engine is working harder trying to move 4 wheels instead of just 2. But just imagine how much safer your AWD is going to be vs. that v8..

should be ok for open road but it would suck in high traffic cities.

Seriously milage aint bad.. considering its what it is.
The evo X is much better than my previously modified and thirsty Evo 2

If the fuelage is such a big thing.. then its not the car for you.. to be honest I ignore fuel/milage as its the price I pay for having such a car.

Gahahahahaha!

Yep, I decided not to care about fuel economy. I can't just buy a lousy roadster like S2K or Honda Civic for that matter. S2K is 2 seater car, and Civic is kinda usual for me...

I NEED MORE POWER...

true at this point i just want the car to get here.but yeah like on2it said it is what it is,but i'll say if i can afford the gas on my truck i think i can hadle this pretty goodi was concern but now that i think about it i have the charger that does poorly as well so whatever i;ll have to wait in line and find out how i like it or not.
