I was looking to get a gauge for the EGT, but what is the limit before backing off the performance? How low should it be before shutting off the car? The dealer told me to let it idle for two minutes after every drive, but just commuting 10 miles to work seems extreme waste of gas. That gas was also in my first oil change at 1k miles. The oil smelled like fuel!

Welcome to the forum.
The fuel in oil thing is widely known. Its because the car is tuned very rich from the factory. There is a HUGE thread about this on the other Evo forum.
Unless you run your car hard you shouldnt have to give the car a cool down time. And if I am not mistaken the X has a built in "turbo timer" of sorts from the factory. That will run the fans if the car has been run hard.
As for the EGT temperatures I could not answer that question.

Not really a turbo timer, and most newer cars have this.... if the engine temp is overly hot when the car is shut off, the fans will continue to run for a certain amount of time to help cool the engine. This doesnt help the turbo however since it still is hot as hell and located behind the motor (previous 8/9's were in front). THe turbo timer allows the turbo to cool down with lower exhaust gas temperatures since the engine is still running.

But like Talon said, unless you ride you car really hard before you park... dont worry about turbo timers or anything. The cars dont really work hard enough with daily driving to need them. On the track is another story and its a good idea. Keep out of boost and drive lightly the last 2 miles before you park and you should be completely safe.

I just want to correct myself. I didn't mean to pass off the stock cooling system (fans) as a Turbo Timer of sorts.

But good information from Spy

To add to what these guys said, when the car is cut off no matter if the fans are running or not, coolant will not be flowing through the turbo because the water pump is not pushing coolant through the system. A coolant fed turbo doesn't need as much cool down time as an oil only turbo would unless the car has been run hard.
