western_man 04-25-2009, 12:47 AM Went to the dealer this morning to check on the progess of my X. I walked in their garage and saw that the mechanic did make some good progress. Had the tranny off the car. But the bad news, is that the main bearing seal is on backorder. I have a track day on the 30th,and its already pre-paid to. Here are some pics I took

wow, if they are doing it under warranty- incuding throwing in a new clutch while they're at it (even though you paid for it) that's awesome= if it's a free install thats some big $$$ being saved

That will just delay it more.. I need to make it to that track event on the 30th. Hopefully the new main seal will arrive this monday. Keeping my fingers crossed..

My clutch started to slip after 3000 miles. At the same time, I had an oil leak to. I thought the oil leak was from the timing chain covers. Like what most people were experiencing. Thinking that. I figured the stock clutch was either a defect. Or it got toasted from my 1st track day session a couple weeks ago..

ohhhh ok. luckily i havnt had any oil leakage...and my 2 track events, clutch slipped minimally once.......but im replacing it after new wheels.
sorry it happened to you mate.

Thanks man.. Since you also track your X. A new aftermarket clutch would be a good idea. A stage 2 one. I bought the Exidy Stage 2 clutch, along with Works light weight flywheel.
I hope my car gets done this monday. I just got new 2 piece rotors + new brake lines put on to. Anxious to try them out this thursday at the track..

hah... im gettin exedy stage 2 aswell. u go with thin or thick? i was thinkin thick for more durability

boostin20 04-25-2009, 02:23 PM Hope you get that seal in soon. Maybe I'll just order one and have it waiting for when I do the clutch.
EvoX08 04-25-2009, 04:49 PM How can I tell if I have slippage?

Well if you change gears and step on it and the revs shoot up bit before the clutch grabs than you have slippage.
You can also try dropping to a higher gear than necessary and stomping the throttle to see if the revs bounce up before the clutch grabs. I don't know how helpful this method is on a turbo car as you wont have as much power... but it still should put the extra strain on the clutch in the higher gear.

need to see the plate on the side. to determine thickness....looks like the thick plate tho. better for track. thin is a lil better for DD usage.
