bio-chem 05-13-2009, 06:40 PM purchased. anxiously waiting
CanadaEh! 05-13-2009, 07:23 PM Awesome Price.
Saiba Samurai 05-13-2009, 07:29 PM I purchased one! It's an awesome price and I can't wait, but I'd love to hear you comment on this...
I am hearing problems about fitment issues? I'd link you to the thread that is discussing it right now but it's on an unmentionable site. :)

which part is having fitment issues? the filter or the turbo inlet?
Saiba Samurai 05-13-2009, 08:15 PM which part is having fitment issues? the filter or the turbo inlet?
I'm quoting the guy having the problems here...
When the bottom two clasps dont lock in you can get the filter into the air box, but its not properly aligned. Look at the top of the filter, its slanted.
Dwreck 05-13-2009, 08:26 PM i've had the filter for a couple months now, i did have a fun little time putting it in, but its in there nice and snug. I does what it does nicely
bio-chem 05-13-2009, 08:27 PM well i will let everyone know if i have any problems when it comes in. ive not heard anything about it yet, so we will see
PERRIN_ADAM 05-13-2009, 09:18 PM I'm quoting the guy having the problems here...
Hmmm. That doesn't make any sense. Not trying to point the finger of blame at the installation, but we can't duplicate that problem here. Wonder if he is trying to put it in upside down or something.
I will have Chris and John take a look "over there".
IF we can help in anyway further, PLEASE let us know!
ak47m203 05-13-2009, 09:19 PM that fitment problem is the same even with stock filter. it's the way mitshu did the box, it's pain to put it back. hey Dwreck any dyno gains on this filter and how it sounds.
Dwreck 05-13-2009, 09:27 PM no dyno, sadly i've never been on a dyno in my life, and i don't even know of any AWD dynos around me. As far as sound not too different but a definite change from stock. With the radio off and the a/c off you can quietly hear some spool and quietly hear a bit of blow off. As of right now i'm running AP with Perrin stage 1 93 oct. so im sure the extra boost also helped that little sound change.

That is not normal to have any fitment issues with the filter. We've been selling it for quite a few months now, and I haven't had any customers have problems with fitment.

Well I ordered one regardless. I'll be back to post my findings when it gets here! I know you'll take care of me regardless $50 isn't worth a bad reputation right!
tildeathdouswhat 05-13-2009, 10:31 PM just ordered the drop in filter, inlet pipe and shorty antenna last week should be here tomorrow, i cant wait!
SamiEvoX 05-14-2009, 05:10 PM There is no fitment issue, its user error. It's just a matter of making sure the filter is completely in place(check the bottom with your hand) and that the plastic piece on the side is lined up before clamping.
SamiEvoX 05-14-2009, 05:12 PM Hey Adam, how does the Perrin filter compare with the HKS? I'm assuming yours has better filtration, but similar performance?
SamiEvoX 05-17-2009, 06:52 AM Just ordered your filter today, its about time to replace the HKS anyway.
PERRIN_ADAM 05-18-2009, 03:24 AM Just ordered your filter today, its about time to replace the HKS anyway.
THANK YOU. :)
bio-chem 05-19-2009, 04:56 AM so i just installed the perrin filter today. took all of 60 seconds. no fitting issues at all. problem is the turbo inlet didn't come today. on back order with no communication other than a note that says "currently out of stock, will ship when available" would have been nice to have known that before i ordered it. or at least a bit better communication than "will ship when available"
aevo86 05-19-2009, 02:53 PM So I'm about to hit order now but any gains in mpg?hp? and I really want to hear my spool-up and BOV. Will it be significantly louder?
bio-chem 05-19-2009, 06:42 PM i don't know about gains in mpg, and i don't think you are going to feel anything as far as hp, but i can hear spool up and BOV more. I wouldn't call it significantly louder, but with the radio off and the window down it is noticeably louder.
PERRIN_Chris 05-19-2009, 07:14 PM Our panel filter will be a little louder, but not that much, since it's still the stock box. Your MPG might improve a tiny bit, as well as horsepower. Plus you will get better filtration, and ability to clean the filter an reuse it instead of having to buy a new filter.
rageagtm 05-19-2009, 07:17 PM if i am tuned with an hks dropin and i goto this any difference? Also what about that inlet tube?
SamiEvoX 05-19-2009, 10:43 PM if i am tuned with an hks dropin and i goto this any difference? Also what about that inlet tube?
Their filter will be fine with your tune and their turbo pipe doesn't affect the A/F so that will also be fine....I'm getting that next. Quicker spool up and up to 10 HP more at certain RPM with the turbo inlet pipe.
SamiEvoX 05-20-2009, 01:09 AM question for Perrin: After how many miles do you recommend cleaning your filter in normal conditions(no driving offroad or on dirt roads)?
PERRIN_Chris 05-20-2009, 03:00 PM Sami,
The filter can get pretty dirty before you will have to clean it. I'd recommend taking a look at every oil change and cleaning it if necessary, but you probably will only need to clean it every 10- 15,000 miles.
ak47m203 05-28-2009, 03:42 AM so this filter is also with oil initially or olied during cleaning only.
PERRIN_ADAM 05-28-2009, 05:17 AM so this filter is also with oil initially or olied during cleaning only.
Thanks for asking! The filter is pre-oiled from the factory. Be sure to remove the excess before installation. Same when the filter is serviced.
Thanks again!

is there a typical oil excess like K and N? im presently using K and n and problem yet, But i like this one too to try. t.y
PERRIN_ADAM 05-28-2009, 03:27 PM is there a typical oil excess like K and N? im presently using K and n and problem yet, But i like this one too to try. t.y
There is a difference between the K&N and PERRIN though. The K&N uses a very thin oil and as such is more likely to be ingested through the filter. The PERRIN is a foam filter and uses a heavy oil that is less likely to be wicked away.
HOWEVER, you should ALWAYS remove any excess oil from the filter before installation.
Hope that helps clarify.
bio-chem 05-28-2009, 03:52 PM When I ordered the Filter and turbo inlet it said that the turbo inlet was out of stock and will ship when available. about how long am i looking at having to wait for this part?

Saiba Samurai 05-28-2009, 05:32 PM How do you recommend removing the excess oil? Is it part of the instructions for cleaning? I've received my filter but I haven't dropped it on yet. Getting my money's worth out of my stock one first. :)
