This was done by HKS Kansai Japan ..

In the writeup .. they did mention their worry about the block being aluminium and it might be weaker than the outgoing engine..

If not hope this pictorial tells you more of what you guys don't get :uzi:
The JDM RS EVO ..

Some info on the Mivec .. 35 degree phasing on the intake and 25 degree on the exhaust cams ..Blockwise .. note the girdle .. semi forged pistons and the straight exhaust .. also the new turbo is a TD05H (NOT A "R" YEAH!!!!)

Basically how a RS comes to you from the factory .. no carpets, soundproofing, aircon, electric anything, basic lancer seats, metal rims, standard lancer shocks and brakes.. note all the additional reinforced joints

Top to bottom shows direction ignition, shielded turbo, oilpan and straight out exhaust, lightening done on the RS with hollow beams etc

Sucks that they put the O2 sensor right at the CAT now .. yeah .. JDM only has 1 sensor :afro:

AND .. this is what you guys been waiting for .. this is a dyno versus the stock IX ..
Orange is X power output
Light blue is IX
Purple is X torque
Blue is IX torque ..

I assume this is crank horsepower...

Regarding to the dyno graph. I am not impressed or disappointed by it. Not quiet what I expected it to be though.

Looks like the smaller turbo churns out less top end power, as expected.

Nothing wrong here, smaller turbo for down low but lacks a bit up on top.

edit: Thanks for the info :)

Wish I could read all of it.
Still, good find.

So did that mean RS's engine is more reliable?

Kinda sucks that the 4B11T has a higher HP rating, but actually has less HP.

The X has a good amount of extra oomph below 4K, but beyond that it's kinda disappointing up top.

All in all, it's generally more of a challenge to give a 2 liter low end power rather than high end power. That said, it should be easier to make the X powerful up high than the IX powerful down low.

Besides that, a slightly larger turbo and a stroker kit should do the trick. :)

i'm hoping for a better dyno output by the usdm models.

The RS is similar to the std Evos .. the only difference is the stripped down body and interior .. different ECU mapping and the titanium turbos .. which is an option for the GSRs .. I haven't check .. but I believe all the JDM X's are titanium turbos now ..

The wow factor I had while going thru this and the actual car is the amount of details the engineers went into designing the car as a package..

The cooling in the engine bay, the cooling of the turbo, the length of IC pipings.. the under chassis aerodynamics, brakes cooling, rear airflow exits etc etc .. impressive ..

Except for 1 small screw up haha .. they forgot how much heat can be generated by a high powered engine on an automatic transmission !! The ATF cooler for the SST IS TOO SMALL!!!!!!!

At least now you guys know the sidevents are not just for show :D ..
Its actually additional cooling vents
