: HKS GT3240 Full Turbo Kit (Prototype)
evox44 05-20-2009, 02:39 PM What do you guys think of this turbo kit? Would you consider it? Price expectations?

dcasandman 05-20-2009, 02:51 PM I am not a fan of how much slower it takes to spool up. Doesn't look like it gets going till over 4k RPM. Im sure it will be top quality though. I would rather cut the peak HP some and have something with a little bit wider curve. That would not be very fun to drive as a daily driver I wouldn't think. Mostly just the track.
evox44 05-20-2009, 03:16 PM I, too, was expecting it to be much more responsive than what is shown on the graph. They will probably upgrade to a 2.3l kit anyways and widen up the throllet body, perhaps that would cut some rpms off the spool
DaemonSadi 05-20-2009, 03:44 PM Is this the set-up they had on the video that was floating around here?
The HKS Evo X that was womping on all the competition?
olsookie 05-20-2009, 04:07 PM i'd say so...
"GT FULL TURBINE KIT" that HKS CZ200S (CZ4A) recorded 59"495 (radial street tire) at Tsukuba Circuit with it.
EvoX2NR 05-20-2009, 04:14 PM hmmm even hks is saying no on the tubular manifolds too

Well I couldn't remember if that was a Tsukuba smart guy :P
evox44 05-20-2009, 04:47 PM Yes, I believe they had this turbo kit and a million other things.
dcasandman 05-20-2009, 04:52 PM They have this on their web site under their new Time Attack EvoX. Im sure this will rail on a track just like video. I would love to at least be a passenger in this car.

Bingo.
That setup seems lag-tastic. Just look at the power difference at 3000rpm!
I like the external WG though.
Kooldino 05-20-2009, 05:00 PM The 3076 is about the biggest I'd like to go, and I'm even hesitant to go that big until I see more data.
Papi4baby 05-20-2009, 06:29 PM Yes for the street it might not be worth it. But if you use for car track duty, HKS is nothing but brilliant at making your vehicle and track weapon.

:neener:
boostin20 05-22-2009, 01:59 AM They need to play with the wheels a little bit. That turbo's too small for that crappy spool time.
i bet it feels badass when it spools. probably puts your nuts up into your stomach
evox44 05-22-2009, 03:12 AM Perhaps HKS should do what Meat_evo did.
meat_EVO 05-22-2009, 03:19 AM Perhaps HKS should do what Meat_evo did.
I would think that they have already ported this turbo to the max, but possibly not. you may be able to free up some spool and gain something. I am sure that with a ported manifold like mine, it would help a great deal.
Ultimateone 05-22-2009, 03:49 AM Pretty funny reading you guys talk down about an pro HKS setup, lol
evox44 05-22-2009, 04:40 AM No one is talking down the turbo kit. I just think it needs to be expanded furthur to 2.3l which they probably will do soon, and think of ways to spool it faster. I need to search more info about the CT230 though (the previously Hipermax III). I don't think anyone can talk down HKS, who seems to be the big kid on the block for evo's.
Athid 06-10-2009, 01:27 PM it's about 300awkw thats alot should do high 10's
xtremeboost 06-12-2009, 02:40 AM Pretty funny reading you guys talk down about an pro HKS setup, lol
Just because HKS makes it doesn't mean its the gospel .... GT series turbos are old news , the future are BorgWarner turbos - just look at all the top people out there -- they all use BorgWarner ( infact I've sen FIRST HAND one thats sponsored by Garrett yet runs custom fitted Schwitzer [BrogWarner ] wheels inside ) ..
evox44 06-12-2009, 04:11 AM Wow...Xtremeboost just convinced me to seriously think about getting their turbo kit from Talon_66.
boostin20 06-12-2009, 10:54 AM Xtremeboost isn't joking. On my srt-4, my 3076 had full spool at 3900. I switched to s362 and it spooled at 4300. The GT was ball-bearing, and BW was non-ball bearing. It completely amazed me, and it kept pulling to red line (unlike the 3076 which dropped off at 7800). One day I will find some dyno charts to back this up, but it's not for the x so it's not pressing.

if he is using a BW turbo, then its worth it.

So the BW was laggier?

What exactly was your redline? If the 3076 dropped of at 7800...that should be WELL past the "redline" on an SRT-4.
boostin20 06-12-2009, 02:42 PM So the BW was laggier?
Yes, by 400 rpm which was barely noticeable.

I had aem standalone and set redline at 8000. The head was dcr pro with +1 valves and bc stg 3's. Note: full spool was not at 4300, that's around when it began spooling. I found the dyno sheet. This was 93oct. on 20psi. Second note: With a 2.0 X, I estimate the S256 will most likely see full spool between 4300-4500. Not really sure because I haven't had one on the X, I just know the turbo's habits. Graph below:

boostin20 06-12-2009, 03:10 PM Btw, sorry to threadjack. Back on topic, I think there are plenty of good options other than HKS's turbos.

Get it and install it , then I want you to come on here and write the truth of your findings - good or bad !!! Trust me I am NOT crazy to come on a public forum and make such a statement which you can easily call me out on if I lie to you . I've been using Schwitzer turbos for 12 years now and will use nothing else in my own cars ! When people risk their $500,000 sponsorship to gain that extra edge - trust me theres a good reason for it !!! There will be no other turbo of the same size that will preform like that on - its just that simple !! No-one can over come 30 years of actual real world testing and development . WHats funny to me is that just NOW people are posting in many forums how great these "new" BrogWarner turbos are , I always say - welcome to 12 years ago which is when I began using them !
The time a effort thats gone into the design of their turbos is still untouch by anyone ! Its no secret that BW turbos will make more power on less boost then other turbos of the same size .
