: How are you guys securing Cone Filters?

Quick question, how are you all securing the cone filters in place so the whole intake with filter doesn't "rattle/flap around" in the engine bay? I have the front "snorkel" bit in place so that kind of prevents it from moving around too much, but I was thinking I should really secure it somehow...

I didnt secure mine at all. I had it on for about a month or two and no problems. The only reason i took it off was because it was a junk filter i bought just to see how the cone mod was.

Hrm...yeah, I'm pretty sure there's some rattling from my filter right now against the front half of the stock airbox. (I left the front in so that it'd get nice cool air from the front/intake snorkel AND it kind of protects the filter from the AC fans exhaust.) Anyone else do the same as me and have a "sturdier" mounting solution?

Tomorrow I will take a pic of the temporary solution I made out of 18ga. metal, and post it here.

Heres my <$3.00 solution, the metal one posted above will obviously be more secure, but this one gets the job done for me...at least for now.

BRILLIANT!!! And simple too! I'm going to do that as soon as I get home! Thanks for the great idea!

Here's mine, still not done yet. Gotta texture paint and put edging on it. Used the stock airbox grommets to hold the shield in place.

That actually looks pretty good, I may try something like that this weekend.

I did as Slo4B11 suggested with the sticky insulation things...MUCH MUCH better now. I wouldn't block off the front of the filter though. The stock snorkel actually works pretty darn well as both a CAI and heat shield.

BTW, I noticed when I took off the airbox that there were WEAR marks on the plastic ribs from where my cone filter was banging/rubbing on it. So...yeah, it's probably a good idea to support/strap the filter down somehow!

I have had mine attached with the c-clamp that came with the k&n filter for over 2 months now and have only needed to adjust it once due to very bumpy roads.
