First time launching an awd vehicle. Really good conditions here at MIR with overcast. 72f.
Weight is 3730 with me included, no spare.
1st run:
no launch asc on
60' 2.694
1/4 14.817
MPH 101.43
2nd run:
5k launch asc on
60' 2.189
1/4 14.084
3rd run:
7k launch asc 'completely' off
60' 1.878
1/4 13.280
MPH 103.83
It's partly tuned since it only had an aem cone filter, xtremeboost dp, and test pipe, nisei uicp which put down 270/276 on a mustang dyno.
Currently it has a harman motive intake, ams intercooler with hard pipes, ams dp, and test pipe on The same tune. I know it's running a bit lean since the ses light came on A few days ago but went away.

I would be real careful about taking these cars to the track on the stock clutch without an "upgrade my clutch" account with your local financial establishment. I have seen some people on here replacing their clutches at 8k miles or a little less. Do they know what the hell they are doing? Maybe not, do you? Since you said that was the first time you launched an AWD car I am just saying be weary of the rumor floating around the stock clutch is garbage.

Yeah I'm aware of the clutch issue which is why I won't be coming here all that often.
Can anyone chime In on Why I was able to launch at sucha high rpm? Isn't there a rev limit at 0mph? It felt like a really good launch since the turbo was spooled.

how did you do a 7k launch? adjust your factory launch limiter?
and why would you ever launch with asc on? it kills teh power as soon as you spin tire.

^^^
I thought the factory limiter was at 5k.

factory limiter is at 5.5k
why would you launch at 7k?
did you leave the asc on, on purpose?

Dont leave the ASC on and dont turn it completely off by disabling it. Just turn it off by clicking it once, dont hold it. Your factory 2 step should keep the RPMs at 5500 before the launch.

I forgot to turn off ASC the first two runs. I don't know how I was able to launch higher. Are you able to adjust the rev limiter with a reflash? Maybe my tuner changed it.
And why shouldn't I turn it completely off? It looks like it helped pretty well letting me spin the wheels just enough to get the most traction.

he prolly reved it up yo 7000 and dumped it. you didnt hold it at 7000. u just reved it there then let it go as soon as it hit 7000k. never do that again.

I revved it up to the factory limiter, then out of no where it went all the way to 7k and slowly crept down. At that point the yellow lights started to flash so I just kept it there and dumped the clutch.
Are you not supposed to dump? Preloading would be a good idea I assume.

Because disabling the ASC completely doesn't do anything in a drag race, that only disables the brake assist around turns. All you have to do is click the ASC once until it says off and that will get you the best launch. You should try it that way to see if your 2 step works or not.

A hard slip launch is the way to go. Dumping breaks stuff.

Ahh okay I get it now. I didn't know it used the brakes in ASC.
I'll hit up the track again in a few weeks once I get tuned again for the new stuff with more boost.
I'll also try the other method of launching the car. Fixing stuff in this car is a pain. Haven't done so yet but by just looking underneath I can tell it'll be a hell of a time.

is this GSR... 7k launch is scary.

is it really that bad? I used to launch my rsx at 7k on slicks..although I did have an upgraded clutch.
I'm pretty sure if I would've shifted a bit faster and knew where the fuel cut was I could have hit a better time with that crazy high launch.
