The engines are fine all the issues have been self inflicted modding.
As far as the Aero kit don't waste your money, buy a set of Rally armor flaps to keep from chipping your paint and drop a few hundred on a good carbon front lip.
mud flaps and even the side skirt extensions

Being from Chicago, I can tell you that the best way to deal with snow banks is to move to Texas....

being from mass, i feel your pain. the x has tempered my resentment for having to own a vehicle that is good in the snow. paint + crusty snow or ice = scratched factory finish and pissy mike o. my subie was rio red(see pic). it was close to rr color of my x. commuting to boston from w. mass. turned the paint into a lovely pink color. 1st buy aftermarket pieces. trash them in the winter and bring out the factory stuff after the sand is gone. definately have an invisible bra of some sort applied to the bumper, hood and mirrors (https://www.invisiblemask.com/cgi-bin/products_ip/browser.cgi?prevtype=Automobiles+and+light+trucks&prevyear=2008&prevmake=MITSUBISHI&prevmodel=LANCER&prevsubmodel=EVOLUTION&prevseries=BASE&type=Automobiles+and+light+trucks&year=2008&make=MITSUBISHI&model=LANCER&submodel=EVOLUTION&series=AERO). and like a previous post suggested, rally armor flaps. moving to tx or somewhere as close to the equator would be nice, but watch out for the armadillos and HAIL.

No kidding about the Hail in TX. Back in May when I was shopping for my X, I went to the local Mitsu Dealer and all their Evos were hail damaged from getting bombarded by baseball size hail. Out of the 7 or 8 X's they had on the lot, only one had a rear windshield. The rest had some kind of plastic temporary crap on them in place of the glass. And don't even get me started about the dents. It looked like somebody took a hammer and just went to town. Hood, Roof, Roof rails, Trunk, Doors, etc, all totally f'ed up. Anyway, needless to say, I am not looking forward to seeing such Evo carnage ever again..
