In the process of installing my new O2 downpipe my turbo had to be taken out, that's not totally unexpected. The thing is now Tobz gave me the option of upgrading the turbo(FP Red) in the car since the stock turbo is sitting on His table and it would be the perfect time to upgrade it. My only question is my car is has the SST Tranny in it, would I be making a mistake by putting it in?

yea, go ahead with teh upgrade if yuo have the $$. you can run a low boost tune and make easily 350-370 whp. you will be very happy.

Just be careful if im not mistake those trannys are not that strong??

You'll need to upgrade your transmission cooling solution. SSP currently has a kit released to the public, and is working on a second. AMS and Blitz also have solutions in the works but aren't released yet.

it's just like any other tranny, it's not a question of strength, they all need upgrades, clutches and such, more power costs more money ;)

I would think that it would be fine as long as he doesn't subject the SST to prolonged heat or hard launches

I agree, the SST is still very new so upgraded parts aren't readily avail yet. SSP is going a great job with that area but it's still not there yet. So take it easy till then.

I'm going to get the FP Red now then save up for clutch packs/tranny cooling, meanwhile no track time but instead the occasional very wide grin on my face.:thumbup:

Yeah, eventually I'll get tired of "being careful" and upgrade the tranny, I'll start saving those nickels and dimes now.

BTW, I told Him about the message to get on the forums now but in addition to my Evo10 He has about 6 other previous generation Evo's in His Garage plus an Eclipse being worked on. That's also not including His Rhinoliner business, I'm surprised He has time to sleep.
