: MMCS vs Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT
humanclone1stgen 07-15-2009, 02:39 PM So I'll be getting a PB MR within the next month and the only thing left undecided is whether or not I want to go with the MMCS w/ Navi or go with an aftermarket solution. I've been scouring the web to see if there was a video demo of how the MMCS operates, but couldn't find anything useful.
The new Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT looks amazing and I could get that and a thumping sound system with the money I'd otherwise be spending on the factory MMCS and the Rockford Fosgate system which I've heard isn't that powerful. Now whether or not the Pioneer will work with the steering wheel controls is another question. Any I.C.E. (In-Car Electronics) experts on here care to impart some knowledge?
Wicked White 07-15-2009, 06:59 PM Ill be one to tell you that the Rockford package is not as big as a "punch" they made it out to be. If you are looking for something a bit more mediocre and some simplicity with good capabilities, the Rockford speakers are a good choice.
as for the navi, ill be one to tell you that i was fairly pleased with it.
here is a thread you may find useful.

If you are planning on watching parameters of your X through video rca, then DO NOT GO THIS ROUTE.
humanclone1stgen 07-16-2009, 05:02 AM When you say do not go this route were you referring to going with the factory MMCS or an aftermarket solution?
Wicked White 07-16-2009, 09:28 PM mmcs
humanclone1stgen 07-17-2009, 09:31 AM Yea I'm definitely looking to get some sort of parameters output akin to what the GT-R has with their central console, so I guess I'll be going the aftermarket route. My only concern would be how an aftermarket unit would play with the steering wheel controls because I'd hate to lose that, especially the BT functionality.

Im also putting in a aftermarket unit.http://www.pac-audio.com/productSearch.aspx?Make=Mitsubishi&MakeId=24&Model=Lancer&ModelId=1326&Year=2008&YearId=19
bwang12 07-17-2009, 11:16 AM i've been thinking about this too!.
not sure about the cost though.
humanclone1stgen 07-17-2009, 10:07 PM Well the MMCS plus the Rockford Fosgate package is about 2000, maybe a little over, so I figure I could get the AVIC for around 1600 plus get a fairly decent sound system for half a grand and be extremely happy vs being semi-satisfied with the factory options.

Great Find!
Ad lib 07-22-2009, 01:50 AM I got the Navi and Rockford system and am not happy with it, I really miss having real time traffic and HD radio. I ordered the Pioneer Z110BT and am waiting for delivery. I got a Alpine PDX 5 ch amp for under the seat and a got a 12" magic box from wicked CAS for my Image Dynamics IDMAX 12. I have some CDT 6.5 braxials for up front from my last car and some 6.5 coax for the rear. I'll prolly just sell the fosgate and navi stuff to help offset the cost of my new system. Overall the Fosgate is better than a lot of stock setups but isn't what I would call awesome either.
pcasupreme 07-22-2009, 02:31 AM not even what your asking but i heard recent pioneer models have problems, if moneys not an issue, grab a kenwood dnx 9140
kenpo1441 07-22-2009, 02:50 AM Go with the aftermarket...I have not been happy with the mmcs. It is way overrated; the biggest problem I have is with the volume.

That's pretty much the setup I'd be going for with my MR so I'd love to see a write up and pics when you get yours done.
Tonic 07-24-2009, 07:34 PM go with aftermarket.....after all its a 2000$ that you spend on some stuff that you can always make some money after if you want to resale it later.............
here in canada you can only get the RF in the MR with sunroof and MMCS and its a 5000$ option......no way i will pay for that!
Ad lib 08-28-2009, 08:57 AM humanclone, almost everything is finally here, just waiting for the pioneer msn direct tuner to arrive on Sept 1st and then everything is going in.
