ItzBoostN 07-26-2009, 04:22 AM you tried to lunch it LOL
You should try and slip it instead of dumping it.
bradze 07-26-2009, 04:34 AM how do you lunch it? munch on some burritos while you drive?
-Evolved Boost- 07-26-2009, 06:01 AM well you could use your spoiler as a nice table to set your sandwiches on...then go ahead and "lunch" away!
on a more serious note...the X's have a 2-step. Clutch in, put in 1st gear, gas to the floor, revs will bounce off 5.5k rpm and build some boost...then release the clutch. don't dump it hardcore cause you might do some damage. but then again you don't want to slip the hell out of it. what i usually do is hold the clutch right before the catch point...then when ready give it quick slip/release.
if your only reving it to 3-4k rpm then you will most likely bog unless you slip the hell out of it. unlike your old 350z, you gotta rev these pretty high to get them to launch properly.
grafix143 07-26-2009, 06:11 AM Thanks Evolved , ill try it and let you know
Nice to find helpful people around here :)

Make sure to launch with asc all off or else you will bog anyway. Hold asc for 3 seconds till you see the center driver information display flash yellow. A car with skidmarks on it. Should appear.
You should be gtg after that.

Ok, not enough throttle then :)
Domo X 07-26-2009, 07:57 AM it's all about mastering the technique of lunch control.
TargeT 07-26-2009, 08:55 AM floor it ( should with traction controll off all the way your rev limiter is 5,500) and slip the clutch till the car starts moving a little then pull your foot away increasingly faster, if you feel the car bog your going too fast...
anyway, its a skill, if you smell clutch your going too slow.
this is a GREAT way to burn up your clutch prematurely.
grafix143 07-26-2009, 10:56 AM hehe lol i think now i know my mistake , i release the clutch completely off
i have to slip it
cool ill try it next time
and see what happens
thanks againa guyz
seventhfactor 07-26-2009, 01:42 PM Good info. I'm definitely bogging but only smelled clutch once on a mild incorrect launch.
On a more serious note, I plan to lunch my Evo soon. Treating her to syntec and a filter. I hope she'll put out all the way to redline!
Xenozx 07-26-2009, 01:56 PM Do you really need to launch at 5500 to get a good launch? That seems high. Wont that cause damage regardless?
I would figure you should be able to launch at 3,000 and still get a good launch. Im not talkint abouta 1.7 60 foot launch, but good enough to run with most cars?
chkmgnt59 07-26-2009, 02:06 PM Well our 1.6-1.7 60' is our advantage, and why we can win these races. If we launch just good enough to 'hang' with most cars, they'll pull on us fast as hell once the speed gets up there. IE a mustang/corvette will fall behind several car lengths early in a 1/4, then start to catch up the second half. Our only hope is being as far ahead as possible as fast as possible so they dont have enough time to catch up. And if you're talking about street racing... dont b/c thats not allowed here.
dcpatters 07-26-2009, 02:11 PM Check out the vendor section too, as I am sure you will be needing a new clutch soon.

Exactly!
boostin20 07-26-2009, 03:10 PM floor it ( should with traction controll off all the way your rev limiter is 5,500) and slip the clutch till the car starts moving a little then pull your foot away increasingly faster, if you feel the car bog your going too fast...
I do what Target said, except for the end part. When I let the clutch out a little so I can feel the car start to move, I let the clutch out fast (not sidestepping fast). It doesn't bog and I leave the ASC on. I've only launched once with it off and didn't see enough of a difference for me to worry about turning it off.
GO ON 3 07-26-2009, 03:11 PM good info and well put!
aevo86 07-26-2009, 03:14 PM +1 for lunch. im about to hit up IHOP.lol
dakoop 07-26-2009, 03:17 PM Lol. One letter off and the thread goes to hell.
I could definitely eat though!
dcasandman 07-26-2009, 03:37 PM I get RPMs up. Let up on clutch till I feel its about to grab. Put pedal to floor and release clutch. Get small amount of chirp and you are off.
I dont use the push clutch in, mash gas, drop clutch technique.
Domo X 07-26-2009, 05:11 PM So if you BReak your clutch on a laUnch is it considered a BRUNCH? Speaking of brunch I had a damn good one!
jward717 07-26-2009, 05:43 PM Ok, not enough throttle then :)
if its a MR make sure to let the car cool down before, and in between lunches!
Ultimateone 07-26-2009, 07:45 PM Hilarious thread, its all about the correct slippage - this is the same with many Turbo cars.
STItoEVOX 07-26-2009, 07:49 PM off topic but uhh, Ultimateone your X kinda looks like an acura in your sig
DVDee 08-09-2009, 02:12 PM Once I saw the title I knew exactly how this thread would end up. It's pretty funny.
