: Member journals?
xbox4414 08-07-2009, 12:40 AM How about we have a section of forums so we can have member journals. A place to post pictures and experiences with our own cars others could check out and comment on. Kinda like a gallery section. But we could write about the start to where we currently are on our cars. Also I don't really know where to post just random photo shoots. I mean most post in the vanity section but it's not really there for that. Just an idea.

xbox4414 08-07-2009, 08:26 AM Anyone else interested in this?
Kooldino 08-07-2009, 07:42 PM Find me some examples and some plugins.
Ultimateone 08-07-2009, 07:48 PM www.IWSTI.com
I was a member there as well (06 STI)
xbox4414 08-07-2009, 08:27 PM Here are examples:

Something like this would be fine:

JDCZEvo 08-07-2009, 08:31 PM i would be interested if it wasnt a forum type format where other people could post into your thread. If it was reserved for that person only, with maybe a sidebar for comments, then i would dig it.
boostin20 08-07-2009, 08:46 PM ^That's a good idea.

Maybe the settings could be selected by the user if the thread is open or not. As I would like mine to be open to anyone posting in it for feedback and such.

xbox4414 08-10-2009, 08:39 PM yeah same, i like to talk about my car with other people. dont like talking about my car to myself too much..
LOL!
So Dino, do you think we can do this or no?
jmayevox 08-10-2009, 08:40 PM This sounds like a great idea to help people get ideas.
xbox4414 08-17-2009, 06:59 PM Mods? Admins? Might we see this or no?
Kooldino 08-19-2009, 06:50 PM I'm all for doing something like this when we have the time. Ping me about it in a couple of months.
xbox4414 10-01-2009, 11:11 PM Okay, bringing this back to life. LOL.
TRUSTcompany9000 10-01-2009, 11:32 PM Gotta give you credit for being persistant.
xbox4414 10-01-2009, 11:39 PM LOL, come on you gotta admit it would be cool detailing the "Evolution" of your car. Asking for feedback, comments, questions and concerns.
TRUSTcompany9000 10-02-2009, 12:40 AM I'll search around and see if I can find a good plugin for it.
xbox4414 01-09-2010, 07:49 AM Bumping up an old thread...still think it would be a good add on to the forums...
xbox4414 01-22-2010, 04:04 AM Guess this is a dead suggested addition to the forums, as haven't heard from any staff regarding this..
cartard 03-10-2010, 01:23 PM They could use any blog application that fit the requirements. It's possible to modify it to reference the forum's database so you can use users' forum credentials. It's not a vBulletin plugin that it seems they prefer but easily doable.
xbox4414 03-10-2010, 05:55 PM Yup I know it would be easy. Having run a message board before and modding it....takes a little time but do able. Guessing this one is just never gonna happen.
bradze 03-11-2010, 06:19 PM after people put in mods perhaps here would be a good place to blow off some of that excess steam from working on our stupid cars. its so frustrating everything takes at least twice as long as you expect
Whitewind 03-11-2010, 06:56 PM You know I think that Site Feedback & Suggestions (http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17) should be close due no MODs input on anything we say. Waste of space if nothing ever gets looked into. Sorry Dino and guys but how I feel about it.
Katya4me 04-09-2010, 03:35 PM Sorry I'm a bit late jumping into this thread. In doing some searching, it looks as though vBJournal was released for vBulletin 3.5 and we are running a newer version than that. It was last updated on 28 Aug 2007. Blogging is available on vBulletin 4.0 Publishing suite, but that would require a forum upgrade.
If anyone can find a secure solution that works with vBulletin® Version 3.6.9, please let me know.
xbox4414 04-09-2010, 05:22 PM Well honestly it doesn't need to be a plug-in, it could be another sub-forum. Here is an example of another site doing it like that:
http://wfcrew.forumotion.com/awd-f26/
And an example of a post that could be put in it is here:
http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29052
The post by GO ON 3, is the perfect example of a "journal" that I'm talking about that we put into it's on section or something...

I guess this is just another suggestion that we'll have to ignore.
:-P
Waste of space if nothing ever gets looked into.
Who says nothing gets looked into?
There have been several suggestions made in this subforum that have come to fruition.
Realistically, you can't expect us to take every suggestion and run with it. It takes a lot of time, effort, and often costs money.
The reality of the situation is that our staff can barely keep this forum running smoothly as is. In what little time we have to make improvements to the site, we have our own projects that we work on (such as the local teams, etc) that are our priorities.
If you suggest a simple change that we love, we might be able to get it done in a week. If it's a complex change that will require a lot of research, work and integration, it's probably going to be awhile before we even get a chance to play with it.
Cliff notes:
-Don't be such a negative nancy.
-We can't do everything that's suggested to us.
-For the ones we want to do, they'll generally take time.

See, here's the issue with this though - What I'd really like to do would be to take TheSin's suggestion of a better vbgarage (http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14830), and use a journal that integrated with that somehow.

Lol. Yeah just trying get some feather puffed up lol.
Who says nothing gets looked into?
Be nice to know if it does, so people don't ask questions about what is going on. I think it does get looked into, but mods just need give feedback saying "Good point we will look into this" and not waiting month or two for any response. Some people here including myself wounder what the hell has happened.
Realistically, you can't expect us to take every suggestion and run with it. It takes a lot of time, effort, and often costs money.
If that is the case tell us. I would never expect you guys to go way out of the way or spend money on this for something we don't have to pay for. That be crazy talk! lol

I think people see this and worry.

Understand 100% and agree! Just giving feedback will shut people up.
Cliff notes:

Me never!!! I'm always happy!
-We can't do everything that's suggested to us.
Why the fck not? j/k! understand.
-For the ones we want to do, they'll generally take time.
Understand.
But Dino know this, I really come to like this site and I hope it keeps growing like it is. I never talked on the net before till now, and this is the only place I do it at. (beside myspace)
Kooldino 04-11-2010, 04:25 AM Often the mods do discuss some of the suggestions here, but we can't always iron out the details, more important things come up that need immediate attention, and improvements to the site fall by the wayside since we're busy trying to keep up with our rapid growth. There's a LOT going on behind the scenes to make this site what it is already.
Probably not what you want to hear, but it's reality.
