: FP RED dyno on X MR... AMS Bolt ons
Jeremy@SSP 08-08-2009, 05:54 AM As the title states, I have a 2008 evo x mr with about 25k on the motor.
Mods are all from AMS performance, Thanks to Dan and Ty
Fp red ( Ams ported in house ), with detch werk 800cc injectors, AMS fmic, uicp, short ram intake, test pipe, anc cat back exhaust. all ams product, AMS mr/ ralliart boost pill
I wanted an mild tune on my car, considering the transmission, and the fact I'm getting a custom sheet metal intake, and kelford 272 cams, ams trans cooler, SSP Deep tranny pan,
, AMS down pipe,in a couple months. I'm shooting for 400
Car was tuned by open source
Number are ( will post sheets tomorrow ) ( shop temp was 106 degrees!!)
Base number untuned 270.5 ft/lb @ 3435 rpm 265.8 hp @ 6264 rpm
Pro tune Number with FP red and 800 cc inj. @ 106 degrees @ 26 psi
362.1 hp 6944 rpm
320.3 ft/tq @ 4435 rpm

Very nice numbers man. It's cool to see another MR on a dj to compare numbers to. I had 374 326 on 24lbs so your right on track with mine. I have a few more mods at the moment, but you run a 2 more lbs of boost.

lol gunzo.
Btw my problem got fixed :)
Hiboost 08-08-2009, 02:27 PM Sounds like you have a safe tune for your tranny and local hot weather! Looks like the car is pulling smoother through the power band with more top end. FP Red's seem to be a little lower power wise at pump gas levels but there are ways to get around that. Looks like your plans for higher boost and Meth should work out fine, let alone the other mods. Just make sure you balance some power holding into that SST tranny and you are heading for 11's!
aevo86 08-08-2009, 02:34 PM very nicely done sir

How was your problem fixed?!?!?
boostsaves 08-09-2009, 01:10 AM How was your problem fixed?!?!?
It was a problem unrelated to power.
Jeremy@SSP 08-10-2009, 02:18 AM Thanks guys, car runs like a beast. I would highly recommend this turbo. I was very sceptically about loosing the low end boost, but...uhhh, come 4 grand, shit gets crazy!! And honestly who cares??? your just a down shift away, and with my MR, that takes a Milli second. this evo feels allot faster than my 07 sti when it had over 400 to the wheels.
PS: surprised the shit out of a GTR....that's for sure
-Evolved Boost- 08-10-2009, 03:09 AM dam i can't wait to get mine in....end of this month...too damn far away!!
but i'll also have something a little extra going in with it too ;)

Meth... it's whats for dinner
-Evolved Boost- 08-10-2009, 03:20 AM Meth... it's whats for dinner
my car will be eating that shit for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
Jeremy@SSP 08-10-2009, 03:23 AM My turbo upgrade wasn't planned, so I didn't have anytime to order extra mods. Since this is my DD, and i didn't have any notice, I couldn't have much down time.
I have since ordered the Kelford cams, and another O.E.M. Evo x intake manifold so I can cut the plenum off, and have a custom sheet metal one welded onto the runners. Also getting that baller tranny fluid that's specifically made for the X MR, and the AMS tranny cooler, boost and trans temp gages.
Do you think that will get me to the 400 number if I get meth? Or will my tranny take a dump??
I really want to get METH!! Can somebody tell me how much of a pain it is for a DD car? I'm not lazy, just not sure how often you have to fill it? how long a tank lasts?
-Evolved Boost- 08-10-2009, 03:29 AM meth should def get you over 400whp...if your tranny can handle it i have no clue...maybe boostsaves may know more on the MR trannies.
its not that bad...i had a 5qt tank in my IX. It lasts for a while...don't remember how much i filled it up cause it was a while ago since i had it. But it really depends on your driving. Mine kicked in at about 10psi..so anywhere below that i never used meth...and up to 10psi is fine for driving around and stuff. Above that then it kicked in. And also it depends if your tuner wants to tune with 100% meth or 50/50. Obviously the 50/50 will save alot of meth too.
on2it 08-10-2009, 03:29 AM my fear with upgrading turbos has always been loosing low rpm driveability... do you always have to kick it in the guts to get it up to 4000rpm to access the power? (is it a very noticible 'lack' of power till 4K?)
-Evolved Boost- 08-10-2009, 03:31 AM also i had the Aquamist kit...i think there one of the best kits out. More expensive than some but it comes with everything, failsafe and all. And there pumps are very high quality compared to some other companies. And the quage is nice to have too and shows when the meth is flowing or not.

I'm the perfect person to ask.....
I drive a 69 yr old, special needs ( paranoid schizophrenic), senior citizen around for a living. 7 days a week, 365. Average 100 miles a day.
It's pretty much like driving miss daisy. Minus....the grumpy old laddie, I'm white, he's crazy, and we're in a evo x mr....not a limo.
Anyway, point is, There is hardly any difference in my opinion of the stock turbo and fpred for NORMAL DD driving conditions ( and i mean driving old man normal). The only time you notice is when your at 55 mph and in 6th gear. Then of course you have to down shift, but I promise it's not as bad as people are making it out to be. I have a GT 42 on 07 sti......that's turbo lag! I mean really, people are bitching about a 400-600 rpm difference, and calling that turbo lag? give me a break. And if you get a better intake and some cams, you'll be spooling even closer to stock, but pushing 400-500 whp ( not on MR, but a gsr with supporting mods will get over 480 whp )
The FP RED is 100% better all around. Even going dead nuts the speed limit, driving a senior around, or just having fun zooming around, but there's no question that once you really start driving, and shifting over 4000 grand, HOLD ON, cause the HP doesn't stop climbing until your new and much better 8,000 red line!!!
Jeremy@SSP 08-11-2009, 03:37 AM dyno sheet pictures added. well sort of,did the best i could. i'll have the tuner email me better pictures.
Rogue 08-20-2009, 08:27 PM Good stuff! I cannot wait to see your car.
killerAV 08-21-2009, 04:08 AM How does the tranny feel. Is it holding up well to the added power?

So far so good.
