so i went foe a cruise with my car club tonight and my car was running fine. and the one time i tried to take off from the light and my car wouldnt go past 5500 rpm. it was like 75deg but real humid. what the hell is wron with my car?

So.....you were driving in 2nd gear and the RPMs wouldnt go past 5500? same in 3rd? If you want some help try to type out how it happened. Its hard to decipher chicken scratch. You need to explain what happend in one post then people here will be able to help

If you just free rev the engine while not in gear it will stop at 5kish. If you are in gear and it's moving then you have an issue. The others are right though it's hard to decipher panic posting.

i had the same problem last week, i found out that the knock sensor was actually out of its place

Was the engine cold if so then yes it will do this so you dont blow it up every import I've owned has this saftey feature to protect the motor.

You can free rev to your normal 7600 limiter out of gear, In gear below a set speed (usually under 3-5 mph) you will hit the stationary rev limiter which from the factory is 5500. Unless your car isn't sensing that you are at higher speeds it should never limit you to that rpm once at speed in gear unless a sensor is unplugged or other issues are making the ECU angry.
