^^^

Its just like 325i > 328i > 335i...

THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME!! Why don't people complain about that?

If the rumors about this thing are true (Same motor but detuned, SST, same AWD system as the X, etc.) I think I'll be getting one of these instead of an MR. Retune it, throw a few mods at it and I'd be good to go. Sad thing is, I'd have the same car (basically) and I would probly end up spending less than half of what I'd have spent on an MR :p

Very curious, I doubt Mitsu would give the ralli art everything rumoured....whats the point of the EVO X if you can get everything in a car that costs less. Doesnt make sense to me.

We'll have to wait and see.

Honestly... I hope they do >.> Its looking like thats the only way I'll be able to afford anything close to an evo :(

HID lights are standard on the Japanese model of the Evo GSR.
Also notice that the fenders are slim, the Evo is more wide. The intercooler looks a bit smaller too.

Don't bet on that.

I know WRX owners who had this same bright idea and spent more money on an inferior car in the longrun.

How do you figure it has HIDs? Because of the projector lens? That doesn't mean it will have HIDs....standard that is.

Anyways, HIDs don't mean anything other than you can see better at night. They aren't nearly as expensive as they used to be now. True aftermarket HIDs used to sell for $800 - $900 and now the same kits are selling for $80 - $100.

I'm betting on improving upon the last Ralliart....without underminding evo sales....

While the photo says otherwise I think Mitsubishi will release 200-210 hp NA version of the 4B11 with the AWD system without AYC..with optional TC-SST. Sport-tuned GTS Suspension (or atleast more so then it already is if the GTS is already sport-tuned)....Think a....SE-R Spec V, Civic Si, old XRS Corolla Fighter.

I've heard word that this car will be revealed in full at the Detroit auto show, so looks like we get to sit back and wait...

I have a 'feeling' that it gets SST, detuned 4b11t and the (JDM) evo IX's awd system though :shades:

i just might look into that, I love the HID lights, to me it adds so much to the car, especially as Unique as the EVO!

Release this for 19-21K and make it tuner friendly and you have a WRX Beater as well

Forgot to add that part.

We are talking about the USDM Ralliart not the JDM X. I wouldn't be surprised mitsubishi has it included in some package for us here in the US and charge some good money for it too. Probably be in package that would include the rain sensing wipers. It would be nice if it is standard though.

Yes I should add that I dont think the photo is of a stock ralliart. simply because it looks too much like an evo.. and the intercooler looks bigger than an evo X's. (IMHO)

i think it just looks bigger on the RA because on the X, the intercooler is framed by black tirm while on the RA pic, the bottom grill is more open and just covered with mesh

Also the bottom lip accents it too. It's just the angle of the photo that makes it look bigger and the fact that the car isn't as wide.

The new addition to the Lancer family fits in between the 2009 Lancer GTS 2.4 and the Lancer Evolution GSR. The Ralliart actually includes many of the features of the Evolution, but at a lower price. The Ralliart is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged MIVEC 4-cyl with an estimated 235 horsepower. That power is put to the ground through Mitsubishi's TC-SST (Twin Clutch-SST) transmission. The car also features standard AWD and the same aluminum hood from the Evolution. Recaro seats are also available.
The 2009 Lancer Ralliart will be in showrooms this summer.
In other news Mitsubishi also announced that the 2009 Lancer GTS will get an upgraded engine from the current 2.0L (152hp) to a more powerful 2.4L (168hp) engine.

In my honest opinion They are cutting it real close...Besides knowing this...The Ralliart could probably have an ECU swap of the Transmission and Motor and make it spit numbers performance engine wise of the EVO...If it really is this good I might just cut the corner before I fully commit on the EVO but..The evo X still has my vote only because I am confident the larger tires and wider track make that big of a difference..(considering they adjust toe/camber/and caster by tenths of inches)

I think its a mistake positioning it that close to the Evo.

I might consider getting it for the mrs though but only if it came in hatch.

I'm sensing that this may be a repeat of what happened with the 98-02 SS Camaro...Cutting into Corvette sales using the same power plant for a cheaper price. If thats the case theres going to be a lot of pissed off EVO owners just like there were a lot of pissed off vette owners.

shadowsong6
01-15-2008, 02:20 AM
yeah, but you don't buy an evo or a vette JUST for the motor, you buy it for the overall package, the RA, from what I understand doesn't offer the super-sophisticated awd the evo has, so it will suffer in the handling, and fun(not so much in this one..I would hope) departments.

Same thing with the vette/camaro my dad had a vette for years, and my friend drove a z28 during the same time peroid, and the are two totally different worlds.

The only thing that would be 'upsetting' to evo/vette owners would be hp numbers, but in reality they are just being babies, because one, we as car enthusiasts should know that there is more to a car than just hp numbers, and two, RA/camaro owners have to mod to match the evo/vette numbers.

edit: just to clarify, the z28 and the ss were the same car, the ss just had a little extra exterior dress up. (in the 98-02 run anyway)

so the evo is shorter in length compared to the ralliart? that's pretty cool.

after seeing all these pics of the evo, i just may be surprised to see how small the car is in real life.

but i will say this, the ralliart looks badass!!
