Last month we were able to provide some speculative pricing (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/13/mitsubishi-prices-lancer-evo-x-gsr-from-34-000/) on Mitsubishi's Lancer Evolution X GSR and MR, but those figures were still unconfirmed. Now it's official. You can get behind the wheel of the new Evo in GSR trim (meaning, equipped with the five-speed manual) for $32,990.

Start ticking off the option boxes and the price will head north pretty quick. The "Sight, Sound and Spoiler" package that includes HID headlamps, 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate ICE, Sirius, the Evo's trademark wing and the "FAST" keyless entry system costs $2,000. Add the 30 gig hard-drive navigation system and you're out another $1,999. The optional aero kit is another $2,000 and includes front, side and rear air dams, along with a rear spoiler extension. An aluminum shift knob and emergency brake handle are even being offered for the bargain price of $399.

Mitsubishi didn't announce pricing for the range topping, dual-clutch equipped MR, but if the GSR's pricing is any indication, early reports about it cresting the $40k mark are likely on target.

All the details are available in the press release after the jump.

Can you check on this and make a call like Mr. Win said?

Also, if SSS comes with FAST as listed above, I'll be going with a GSR w/ SSS. If I can get it in PB, then I'll do that too. :)

IMO (I could be wrong). I dont think remote start is a factory option globally, but easy to add on via 3rd party.

Hey I have a curious question... After the EVO comes out are they still taking specific build orders...like if none of the dealers have a specific option package in for easy arguement sake a color you want?

Like if I wanted the EVO X MR with the aero package and in white or blue, but they only had them in red..would they take an order to build one as such....

Oh and CURSE YOU MITSU FOR RELEASING ON THE GSR MODEL!!!

there are rumors of an Audi A5 2.0t coming later this year. should be around the same price of the Evo X, probably a bit more. so, hopefully the rumors will be cleared up at the auto show. but at this price, it's hard not to want the X and say forget the Audi.

True. indeed. What I originally planned was getting the EVO X as a DD/unmodded play car. and buy an older Car (Car without ABS etc. and learn to drive fast in that) It seems to me that I could better Utlize the Brakes on an ABS if I learn to brake without them...Ive toyed with doing that on the Sentra (Just remove two fuses and ABS is disabled) How much ABS helped was staggering and kind of embarrassing how much I relyed on it in AutoX I went from ABS kicking in to locking the tires on most of the turns....

But I appreciated the information and knowledge I gained so like I said I'm flirting with the idea of getting two cars. Okay anyway didnt mean to hijack the thread.... Just going to wait for the MR especially knowing I can just order one the way I like it instead of just hoping for it to be on the lot.

Ok so now we can get phantom black on the GSR?

KMX, do you know if it would be possible to purchase the exact same BBS wheels later on and have them installed at the dealership? And I know it would be fairly expensive, but would it also be possible to get the better brakes, the eibach springs, and the leather/suede seats as well and have them installed at the dealership too? And is a sunroof available on the GSR right now? Because I want a phantom black GSR with all of the options the MR comes with... right now I have a deposit down for the MR, but if you think that each of these options would be available in the future, then I'll call the dealership and have them order a phantom black GSR before Wednesday...

KMX - we talked about this a few weeks ago. Can we start getting the MR interior and Brembo upgrade parts cost packages going? If I were to order everything (including the GSR itself) from your dealership could I have everything upgraded for pickup?

I'm not looking for suspension however. I'll do that aftermarket.

TriStateEvo
01-14-2008, 02:23 AM
Todd,

The Brembo upgrade parts would only consist of the front two-piece rotors.

The MR interior would consist of the seat covers rather than the entire seat.

These items I have not yet had uploaded into my CAPS system and I too am interested in knowing what these will cost us.

^IMO, I'm going to just wait until my stock rotors need to be replaced and then upgrade to the MR rotors, which are probably only marginally better.

Ok so do you know anything about the sunroof? Is that an option on the GSRs?

And do you think that after the seat covers were put on, then it would look almost, if not exactly, like the MR interior? Because the front seats are still racing seats.. and in order to put a seat cover on it, you'd have to disassemble the 2 holes where racing harness belts normally would come through... so do you think after the covers are all put on, it would look just like the factory MR leather/suede interior?

Because the dealership here told me that they could probably just do leather covers only.. they would just use some Mitsubishi certified aftermarket leather with no suede. And as far as the 2 harness holes are concerned, they said they wouldn't know until they had the car to look at.

Also, after the covers are put on, the side airbags and stuff should still be able to deploy like normal right?

And last, on the press release for the pricing info, it said that the SSS adds "HID Headlights with Manual Leveling"... now i know for the MR the HIDs have the automatic thing where it kinda turns in the direction the car is turning.. so is this "manual leveling" the same as that or is it some other completely different feature? like are the HIDs for the GSR SSS and the MR gonna be the same?

Sorry i sound so picky.. but i just like everything the MR comes with except the transmission, and i really don't want random aftermarket racing seats put in or anything... i want the exact MR interior in the GSR...

ToddMcF2002
01-14-2008, 12:44 PM
I'm assuming you can disassemble the belt guides - how else could the dealership repair upholstery? Otherwise you need new seats entirely? The airbag situation is key, and another reason that "aftermarket leather" covers are not going to work for me. They look like crap and certainly will alter airbag performance no matter what you are told. Replacement MR upholstery is the only way to go IMO.

BTW my M3 had a HID upgrade with manual leveling. Its really not an issue.

US pricing for the GSR and options is now available. Please go ahead and post about your pricing for Evo X members. If you want to make it visible to registered members only post it in the Bone Closet. Evo buyers will benefit from an openly competitive environment among dealers.

Kooldino, any chance you might get a few Canadian dealers to come on board as approved merchants and start offering deals to their Canadian customers? I think us Canadian buyers are being set up to be screwed by the dealers. It will be interesting to see how it plays out up here, if the cars are a scarce item, or if some end up sitting on lots. I predict the former and no deals to be had. And our dealers already have more profit margin worked into the MSRP!!! Bring on the lube!!!

I get that same feeling too. One of the local dealers that's taking deposits for the Evo started the GSR at 45k, MR at 50K, and MR Premium at 55K. It's making the STi at 47K look like a steal. Hopefully, they don't carry the same attitude that Honda dealerships took when the Si was on really short shipped.
