Subject: WRX STI Pricing
Good afternoon,
We’re please to announce that the 2008 Impreza WRX STI pricing has been finalized and approved.
Please take note of this important schedule:
·Pricing memo will be sent in dealer mail Monday January 14, will arrive to dealers on Tuesday January 15
·Official pricing announcement to the public will be at the Montreal Auto Show, Thursday Jan 17 at 14:00
·Cars will be released early next week
With all the of new features along with enhanced driving dynamics and refinement, the new STI is really so much more car than it’s predecessor. Take for example just some of the improvements over the last model:
* A 12 horsepower increase to 305HP and 290 lb-ft of torque now available lower in the rpm range
* New Multi-mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD)
* New Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system and Traction Control System (TCS)
* GPS DVD-based navigation system and monitor system with colour touch-screen display
* Front dash integrated DVD entertainment system with 7” tilt adjustable screen and digital sound technologies
* SIRIUS® Satellite Radio (Free 3 month trial)
We think the STI will be a great competitor against other sports cars and a great value: We’ve reduced MSRP by $4000 compared to last year’s model! The MSRP for the 2008 STI will be $44,995.00
Best Regards,
I know it is a bit off topic, but it may very well determine the pricing for the Canadian Evo X! Since Mitsubishi did say they will price it competitively against the STI! So the good news it, we know for sure now that we are not paying more than 45k for the MR! I wonder if 45k is the base price or it includes BBS rims + navi...
edit: Finally! A company has taken some action on adjusting the Canadian pricing!
LowUFO 01-13-2008, 04:48 AM I went and checked out the new STi in Oakville at Budd's Subaru today and I think it only comes one way in Canada. The vehicles I looked at had the BBS wheels and nav..
The Midnight Blue rocks.
You might think that mitsu would price the MR according, but i doubt it for some reason. I really hope they do but I bet u'll see the GSR near that price with the MR being closer to 50. But once I hope im wrong

I hope you are wrong...:(
but STI is priced pretty well I have to say
HRCboy 01-13-2008, 08:57 AM If Mitsu wants to make the price competitive.. then the base GSR should be in the range 41-43k. With SSS package it should be no more than $45k. Cause if it more than that... I can see alot of potential Canadian customer opting for a fully loaded STI for $45k
LowUFO 01-13-2008, 11:53 AM If they don't price it between $41k and $43k, I might very well be one of those customers opting for an STi..
darth g-f 01-13-2008, 12:55 PM Since the STi comes fully loaded, I would expect the MR to be less expensive and the MR Premium to be a bit more expensive or (even better) priced exactly like the STi.
My guess, GSR at 37k$, MR 42k$ MR-Premium 45k$.
If the MR is more expensive than a STi I might as well buy that ugly as sin STi. I owned a 05 STi and even if they are really ugly, they do perform really well in all conditions. Let's hope Mitsu gets the pricing right.
HRCboy 01-15-2008, 03:12 AM In exactly the same boat... if the BASE GSR is priced at $43,000 like my dealer suggested then I might as well pay $2000 more for an STI and get Nav w/ DVD player, Leather and BBS forged wheels.
I like the EVO more but it would not make $ense if the Base GSR is priced above $40-41k mark. Honestly I can justify owning either cars... they are both what I'm looking for but just excel a little more in different areas. I'd be very happy owning either cars. We'll know this friday when prices are expected to be officially released for the Montreal Auto Show.

We don't get no stinking SSS packages!!!
soopah 01-15-2008, 03:21 AM I just wished the STI included freight and pdi for $45K. Maybe you can find a dealer that will take pity on you and give a $1,500 discount off the 08 STI MSRP (good luck with that!). I do agree, this was a move in the right direction for Subaru WRT pricing in Canada, but, as expected, they didn't go all the way. And in the end we are still left frustrated!!!
speedy41 01-16-2008, 08:51 AM Yeah, might as well just import an 08 STi and be all in for 38-39k including GST. No heated seats, but whatever.
HRCboy 01-16-2008, 10:39 PM I just got $1500 off MSRP for my STI! Now I just have to wait too see what the EVO X will be priced at before I take delievery of the 08 STI. But at this price it's going to be hard to beat STI's Value.

HELL of a deal you got there!
HRCboy 01-16-2008, 10:51 PM yep.. if you want the person I dealt with... I can PM you with da details. I pretty much went to all the dealerships and this was the best deal I negotiated.

I am too shallow to own a STI :(

Congrats, that covers the freight and pdi! At least we know some dealers are being flexible! Did you pay cash, finance or lease? If you don't mind please PM me to let me know where you got this deal.

Very very soon you will have your Evo X. If you play your cards right you might be able to get a deal, too. Maybe not $1,500 off but...something.

So i see you have changed your sign. What other car are you likely to buy? STI?
soopah 01-17-2008, 05:57 AM Well, just wait, I'm waiting for info on a car... :) Should know tomorrow.

interesting...maybe I will be interested as well since we both are looking for the same things in our vechile
soopah 01-17-2008, 07:32 AM Nah, you won't like it! I think the Evo X is the car for you.

As I said in another thread I bought an 08 Legacy GT Wagon 5MT (I moved my STI deposit to the LGT and will get my Evo X deposit refunded). Look, I'm not fooling anyone by trying to compare it to an STI or Evo, but it is damn fun and practical, with a lot of potential. In the end the Evo X and STI were just not for me. I am very pleased with the performance (though I am trying to be easy on the engine for the first little bit) and when I want more thrill I can upgrade it incrementally. If you are at all interested in the Subaru Legacy GT I recommend you check out the forums at legacygt.com.

soopah 01-25-2008, 05:51 AM Are you going to wait for the Evo X MR?

I am starting to lean on GSR seeing 50 whp with just intake and boost controller...they haven't even tune it yet!
soopah 01-26-2008, 12:33 AM Did you talk to the dealership again to find out about possible delivery dates? I still want to see one of these things in the flesh! I saw the STI's at the dealership when I picked up my shaggin' wagon :jk:, and they were nice, but I think I'll get more of a thrill seeing the Evo X! :)

Here you go Jackygor! Just took them today at Stanley Park, with a bit of snow on the ground.

very nice! Soopah, are you planning to mod it?

I'll probably tinker with it a little. I'm already planning lighter pulleys and I'm looking for a nice grill to get rid of those chrome handle bars. Oh, and I want to install some back-up sensors. The wagon drives and handles like a shorter car, but come time to park it and the length is apparent, so sensors would come in handy! Am I getting old? . . . Don't answer that!
Once I am past my break-in period (and my first oil change, still trying to figure out exactly when that should be and what oil to use) I'll probably go stage 1 with an Accessport tune (Cobb Tuning).
Seems a commong thing to do with the GTs is to put in a cat-less downpipe, but I'll wait on that for a little while. I think once the downpipe is installed the Accessport can be upgraded to a stage 2 map. I am learning more as I dig into legacygt.com.
Then there are wheels and tires and sway bars and end links and adjustable coilovers, and . . . but I'm in no hurry. This is a daily driver, not a track or autocross car, and for now I'm just enjoying the new car smell. :)
