I'm getting blackish colored smoke out of the my evo-x exhaust when I push it real hard it.(Someone followed me and stated "hey that black smoke coming form your cars smells like metal burning, like Burnt spoons", not sure how he knew what burnt spoons smell like)
it usually occurs under hard accels of 2nd and 3rd gears, smoke only seems to come after pushing it above 4000rpm.(right after the turbo lag) clears up the more I stay in gear. under normal accelaration slower creeps to 6000- 6300 rpms no smoke at all or at least we didn't notice any. cars is just about at 5000miles
slowly converting back to stock just in case I have to go to the dealer.

only non stock parts now are as of right now.
-perrin turboback exhaust, perrin BOV
-K&N panel filter.

-happen with Cobb stage 2 93 maps
-stills happen with stock maps
-switch fuel pump relay with hi-beam relay too still happens

Any answer to this?
Are your cars doing this as well?
pushing smoke out under hard accelerations?
Is this a problem or not?
Could it be the Perrin turboback exhaust not clearing it up.?

PLEASE HELP and ADVISE ME ON WHAT TO DO.
the stock map vs. the stage 2 map is like night and day.
it feels like I just got into my wifes fusion. SO SLOW

thanks

Sounds like your running rich....
Are you using any fuel additives?
What octane are you using and where are you getting it from? Have you switched recently?

90% of the time the fuel comes from Shells station
once in a while sunoco
always used 93 octane never anything less

never used any fuel additives.

My car has black smoke, it's just the fuel coming out the exhaust. Lots of turbo cars have this.

I can 100% assure you it's totally normal, especially with a HFC and exhaust.

Yeah man, don't worry about it. And if you ever go to a shop for something else, get a custom tune (assuming you're going to a good shop). Then you should be running leaner.

waiting to go to CBRDspeedfactory, its only 50miles or so away,
just have to get all the parts on the car first.
Still trying to decide if I want a new turbo too.
but hopefully by the end of the year, it will make it down there.

+1. Even after my tune, i still run rich and have tons of black smoke pour out of my exhaust. Luckily for me, my car is black so it's harder to see the black sooth. My license place (NJ - yellow) is a dirty yellow and its a PITA to clean. You just gotta get used to it.
