: New Member - New Evo X
Gumbö 01-14-2008, 11:08 AM Greetings. This is my first post so be gentle!
Im off to my dealer in Nottingham, England on Wednesday to hopefully order and pay my deposit on the Evo X.
If there are any British members on here do you have any tips for me before placing the order.
Ive pretty much decided on the Black paint job, looks like a stealth fighter:thumbup: Also the FQ330 GSR variant so I get some toys and a bit extra power without going the whole hog for the FQ360.
Anyway I just wanted to ask for any advice and say hi I suppose :shades:
_Chris_ 01-14-2008, 01:01 PM Black seem to be a popular choice of colour around here
Kooldino 01-14-2008, 03:09 PM The black is my favorite. Good luck, and welcome to the forum!

The Rockstar 01-14-2008, 09:28 PM Hey whats up! Ya I love the Wicked White color too!
UnctrldRage 01-14-2008, 09:29 PM Guess I'm going to have to get a Blue EVO just to be different LOL
cksdayoff 01-14-2008, 11:44 PM haha, sup Gumbo and welcome to these forums.
I am having a MAJOR MAJOR dilemma, I can't decide between white or black. And after seeing a Graphite Gray 2008 Lancer, the GG might be thrown into the mix as well, in turn giving me even a bigger headache. I do realize that the Evo will probably get better paint quality than the lancers so if the GG can look that nice on a regular lancer than my hopes are high that it looks even better.
on2it 01-15-2008, 06:07 AM tarmac or black :)

Congrats on your order, hope to see it soon!
Gumbö 01-17-2008, 10:48 PM Yeh I love the black. Also my dealer told me that the UK only has FIVE of the white Evos coming into the country this year!

EVOBOYUK 01-18-2008, 06:15 PM Hey Gumbo, hows it going? I'm in a similar position to you. I'm planning on going to the Mitsubishi dealer (Chingford) tomorrow to place my order. I wanted the SST, but have decided against that, and now plan to get an FQ360 GSR. Bit expensive, but I'm thinking I may as well get all the goodies and have the warrenty, since I'm not planning to mod whilst the car is under warrenty :)
I don't know about the colour though! I wanted silver first but its looks a bit plain, so may well be black.
Thanks to the other guys for posting pics of theirs evo x's. Can't wait to get mine now.

I looked at the FQ360 but asked teh dealer if there was anyway he could talk me into "upgrading" to the 360 from the 330 and he said not really, unless I was going to track it and alot of the "extras" would be available as after market add ons for a lower price. can understand what you mean about the warranty though as im an evo and modding noob. Either way Im sure you will love it. Ive never driven a mitsubishi full stop but the dealer said I can be the first in the demo cars when they arrive:godance:

Hi dude. Yeah I thought the parts from the FQ330 will be out on the aftermarket after a while, but to be honest I would rather have them on the car from the start mostly due to the fact that in the first 3 years I won't change anything (me thinks) and would like to have the most power possible for that time :) Like we don't have a gun metal grey colour option! whats that about! what happened to BBS wheels! are you getting them? website doesn't seem to mention them at all!

No idea whats up with the BBS wheels. The dealer told me they will be an option at some point but not at present. I may just buy some other sweet rims once Ive shredded the first set of tyres!
I tried to get some insurance quotes today but nobody has the details of the X. I tried some on the IX and they ranged from like £700 to £3000! How the hell do they justify the differences? Still I'll sort something come march/april.
When it arrives my X will be identical to:

That will look sweet. I don't know why we not getting the BBS wheels when everyone else seems to be getting them in other regions. I prefer them to the Enkei's. The black colour your getting, is it a deep proper black? or is it more like charcoal grey? I can't decide on colour! I like the white, but don't really want it for my own car, same for blue and red. So its either silver or black for me. I got a quote on a IX and that was £1800. Think it might be my age! How old r u mate? £700 sounds reasonable - What company was it with. But there is such a difference between quotes! I'm sure how they justify that. I want to see a a pic of a black and silver evo front on and directly from the back. That might help me make up my mind. Does anyone have a silver one yet?

As far as I know its jet black. Ive only seen it in pictures so far!

Re insurance im 30 and the best quotes were admiral and churchill.
Gumbö 01-30-2008, 04:24 PM Well Ive been back to my dealer today having had a change of mind. Ive gone the whole hog and ordered the FQ 360!! Works out at 354bhp and 492nm (363lb.ft) torque, which I gather is quite a lot of torques and good for overtaking tractors :D
EVOBOYUK 01-30-2008, 04:44 PM Yes Yes! Thats the way my friend! Glad you have gone for the 360! I'm off to the dealer's again this Saturday to put down my deposit. I'm going for 360 GSR in Silver. Do like black, but my worry about swirl marks has made me change my mind. I don't like blue and red that much, and white is nice but not really my cup of tea. Once they are readily available I think white is going to be a very popular choice.m The car does look sweet though doesn't it! I seriously can't wait to get mine now! I even bought myself a private 'EVO' plate so it's ready to go on when I get the car. I haven't heard exact details about the 360's power and torque. Wonder where your dealer got that info from? Did he mention where he got that from?

The dealer didnt get me the figures, they have updated the website, but taken off the mpg figures! http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/evolutionX/specifications.asp?strCar1=QF9
The white will look sweet but I wash my car about as oftern as I wash my balls. So white is a now no for me. Dirty black it will be :D

Dude - too much info. I'm pretty sure most of us dudes here don't need to know about the state of cleanliness of your balls.... much less the expected colour....

on2it 01-30-2008, 06:50 PM Good call on the 360.
Save you having to do aftermarket mods :) or is that still an option?
personally if I had the 360.. that would be me because it would kick @rse. :P

No im not modding it, thats what finally convinced me to go for the 360 so that its got all the power i need and the full warranty cover :)
Kooldino 01-30-2008, 08:34 PM Good stuff.
How popular is modifying engines in the UK?

Plenty of people doing it, just Im not one of them, I dont know a piston from a spark plug. We dont seem to have the heavy customising or hot rods that you guys have though. Thats if American Hotrod and Pimp My ride are to be believed

my thoughts exactly.
Hope to see your Evo soon!
BTW, does anyone know what is changed on the 330 & 360 versions compared to the USDM or JDMs? I wonder how they get the extra power there. ECU? Turbo? Or did Harry Potter cast some spell on it? :p
EVOBOYUK 01-30-2008, 11:26 PM Hey guys, To answer your question about modding its a big thing in the UK, if your into that scene. The Mitsubishi Lancer Register is a UK based forum (lancerregister.com) quite a few of the guys there have quite modded evo's worth a look if your interested. Most Evo owners do eventually mod their cars, even if its just bolt-on's like induction kit/filter, exhausts and a ECU re-map. Some people go alot further and change turbos, use anti-lag, better cams, weight reduction, boost controllers the list is endless
Sic and On2it - man you guys are lucky you have your cars already! they look great! We are lucky we get the FQ's over here - but they are expensive! I believe the upgrade for 330 include better panel filter, a better suction pipe and intercooler pipe, less restrictive down pipe on exhaust, and ECU remap. The 360 adds uprated fuel pump assembly and ECU remap. The specs are on the UK Mitsubishi website.

As Ive said I know bugger all about the workings of a car but I can read so here goes:
FQ360
Reflash ECU
Dragger Exhaust
Hybrid Filter
Upgrade CAT
Carbon Lip spoiler
Sports Meter kit
Vortex Generator
I also know they change the fuel pump if that list doesnt cover that.
Hope that helps :godance:

EVOBOYUK 02-02-2008, 04:09 PM Hi all, how you all doing?
I took the plunge today and have put in my order for a Evo X GSR FQ360 in Silver. Dealer is going to call me on Monday to confirm delivery date as he was not able to tell me this today, as he needs to find out the cars availability. He said that the UK's first allocation is all sold out! But will let me know when my car will be available. Can't wait! Any one with pics of a silver evo x please post them up.
Gumbö 02-02-2008, 04:26 PM I thought the first UK allocation was only sold out in white. My dealer hasnt even got an exact date for the demo cars he has ordered nevermind my order
EVOBOYUK 02-02-2008, 04:43 PM The things is some dealers know more than others, and some make things up as part or their sales pitch. The guy I dealt with seemed quite decent, and told me that he is to call the sales department for the Evo X and find out the availability of this specific car and spec. He said that 'ALL' the first allocation has gone - but hey this might not be accurate. Interesting enough the dealer said that Mitsubishi have cancelled all the demo cars for the moment, as they cannot keep up with demand so are to sell the cars that were to be demos to customer!
Gumbö 02-02-2008, 05:13 PM Sounds like he is feeding you a line to show how popular the new car is. I spoke to my dealer last week and they are still expecting their demos and my car in march.
EVOBOYUK 02-02-2008, 05:47 PM Just goes to show how much B/S dealers can spit out! lol You only put down your deposit recently as well right? I'm hoping to have mine by March/April so by the time it worn in some, it will be ready for the summer and some 'proper' use :D I wonder if things have really changed much in a week in regards to demos/pre-orders, or if it really was just a line. Are you paying outright? or some sort of 50/50 with finance or bank loan - if you don't mind me asking.
DirectorSe7en 02-02-2008, 10:40 PM Welcome Mate, and God Save the Queen.

I traded a 350z in last week as they offered me a grand more on it if i traded it now rather than in march when the new regs come out. No way was it gonna lose a grand in 2 months so I snapped their hand off as I can drive the Mrs car. The rest I have loaned. Dont use their finance its a rip off 13.9% i think. Best I found payment wise was alliance and leicester 6.9%apr but the repayments were lower than other banks supposedly offering 6.7%. Teh money from them is in my bank already gathering a little interest before March.
Ive also taken the 3 year service plan at £400 which is much cheaper than paying individually.
Where you based in the UK? Im in Notts.
EVOBOYUK 02-03-2008, 10:44 AM God save the queen indeed DirectorSe7en... Lol.
I'm planning on putting about half down in cash and get a personal loan to cover the rest. Mitsubishi finance is a no-no. I have been looking at loan providers and have seen alliance and leicester. Will need to sort this out over the next few weeks really.
How long did the whole loan process take from start to end?
I've gone for the service plan as well as it seems like a good deal.
I'm based in East London mate.
Gumbö 02-03-2008, 01:08 PM I applied with alliance and leicester online. They rang me about 30mins later trying to convince me to go for payment protection for about 50quid a month and I told em to shove it. They then said the loan was accepted and said tehy would send a letter as confirmation the money was in my account. I think I had the money in under a week. Cant fault them so far.
EVOBOYUK 02-03-2008, 02:58 PM That sounds good. I checked on moneysupermarket and they don't seem to be the cheapest for me. Are you a home owner? Barclays seem to be cheaper. It's funny you can't just go on the interest rate alone can you! cheeky hidden bank charges! Ok I might consider them, if the other providers fall through. I will probably apply this week so that I have to money ready and waiting, and to get a little interest on it as well. Plus starting the repayments now will mean they finish earlier too!
Gumbö 02-03-2008, 03:06 PM Yes Im a home owner. The rates may have changed but A&L were just the best repayments at the time. I took the money now so I have it ready as soon as the car arrives. And like you say, hopefully I will have paid it off a couple of months before the warranty runs out on the Evo :D
Gumbö 02-04-2008, 09:02 AM Just heard back from a guy who works for mitsubishi re: the dealer chatter.
"all vehicle's now have sold out for march and the after months.
However, no dealership demo's are getting cancelled at the moment, there is assigned ones to ourselves and assigned customer orders. http://www.lancerregister.com/images/smilies/smile.gif hope that helps you a bit. http://www.lancerregister.com/images/smilies/wink.gif "
GAmbrose 02-04-2008, 03:16 PM I spoke to my dealer today (Dunmow, Essex) and my car will be there in the 1st or 2nd week of March. He said i'm getting mine before they get theirs! :)
He did mention registration was a bit convoluted sometimes though and could take up to 7 days!
Incidently, I am waiting for the Bank of England to drop the interest rate in a week or so and then hopefully Lloyds TSB, who are currently offering 6.4% over 5 years will drop that slightly.
Gary A
Gumbö 02-04-2008, 03:20 PM From experience I will never again take a car loan out for more than 3 years simply because I get bored by 3 at the very most and once the MOT is due I look to get rid.
I checked with the guy who works at mitsubishi and he said they have a database of allocated cars and estimated delivery dates so I will drop them a line in a week or so if Ive heard nothing.
Tunerhead 02-04-2008, 03:34 PM Welcome 2 the X forum!
GAmbrose 02-04-2008, 03:50 PM I've promised myself that this car is long term.
But I do tend to get bored of cars as well....but come on, this is an EVO! My first one and the most powerful car i'd have owned thus far.
Gary A
Gumbö 02-04-2008, 03:57 PM You say that now but I paid nearly 50 grand for a brand new M3 a few years back and I was bored of that after 3years, I kept it for another year though because of the loan I had taken out.
GAmbrose 02-04-2008, 04:08 PM You going to the launch event at Birmingham? It's on March 6th and we get to cane Mitsubishi's Evo X's around a track apparently.

Had no idea there was a launch event to be honest. Has your dealer told you/invited you to it or just something you knoew about?
EVOBOYUK 02-04-2008, 05:39 PM The dealer called me today as he said he would to confirm availability etc. But didn't give me any good news! He said he spoke to the sales team who are dealing with X's and that they couldn't confirm the delivery date! He said he will call tomorrow/or as soon as he finds out when a GSR FQ360 in Silver will be available. This is going to be my first evo, and also the fastest car I will have owned. Hope he calls tomorrow with some good news! Whats this launch event about Gary ? First I've heard of it :S.
GAmbrose 02-04-2008, 06:13 PM Had no idea there was a launch event to be honest. Has your dealer told you/invited you to it or just something you knoew about?
Yeah, he told me about it over the phone. Said there was a morning and afternoon session. Seeing as it's a good three hours drive to Birmingham from Essex I opted for the afternoon session ;)

Gumbö 02-04-2008, 06:29 PM Perhaps I should email my dealer tehn and ask where the fuck my invitation is!
