i dont really know what it is or how it works... but i think it might be better to have something to check the codes... which one works best... and I LIVE IN CANADA so is it the same system as in the us??

you could always stop into your local checkers/auto part store and use theirs, or you could spend some money and buy a tactrix cable :) which imo is the best.

some readers do not provide a full list of descriptions though, but it really doesn't matter as long as you get the code. The codes+descriptions are available here on the forum.

Would you be so kind as to explain how to get codes with the Tactrix cable? (Without paying for PCM Scan)

A Tactrix cable isn't needed for the code readers to work. They connect directly to the OBD-2 connector - same place a Tactrix cable would.
