: SSP SST Upgraded Transmission Exchange Program

SSP Kris
10-03-2009, 02:56 PM
SSP has almost secured enough cores to start the SST transmission exchage program. SSP will be providing (in stock) UPGRADED clutch baskets which will be on the shelf ready to sell. The UPGRADED CLUTCH baskets will come with the SSP clutch upgrade and steel upgrade. SSP will also be releasing modified transmisisons ready to go around the 1st of the year.

What will happen, you the customer will send in your good stock core in exchange for a highly modified transmission. SSP will try to keep these NEW modified transmission in stock at all times (pending sales volume). All the proven modifications that SSP has been working on over the last several months will be available in this transmission. SSP will be offering 2 different levels of modification depending on what horsepower levels you will require. SSP will be releasing its new internal transmission modifications in the near future.

SSP wants you the SST owner to no longer FEAR transmission failure. It has been the same with the GTR owners for the last year. Now, SSP has been successfully building GTR transmissions to withstand 750+whp.

SSP has been working a new 2 stage electronic launch control system for the SST. This will allow you to leave the line at lower boost levels to save on transmission wear. After imediately shifting into second gear, the SST will kick into high boost.

Please feel free to forward any questions or special requests to kris@sspperformance.com.

awesome...... We just hit the wall with what the sst will handle on my MR. We had to back the new turbo down to 22lbs just to get it to hold reliably. I am very interested in the packages and associated costs. I am hoping we can hit 400whp and 400 wtq with our current setup as soon as we can get the tranny to hold....

Yup .. stock ecu has this capability built in .. in fact stock 1st gear full power is only 15psi at 5000rpms ..
Oh I also need to add that you won't get full boost when you brake torque ..probably about 1/2 of what you set .. I get about max 15psi when launching .. I can probably lower it to 7psi . but where's the fun ?? :bowlol:

I hope to god he hasn't launched it yet, he should follow the same break in as new, at least 1000miles on the clutches first to allow them to break in and seat.

Thats not right..... most wet clutch systems are broken in within 75 to 100 miles.

Yes I did some launches after about 150 miles.... and yes it launches hard, but not a whole lot different from before. I think the difference is I am not afraid I am going to destroy my clutches....

I can't wait for someone to crack the TCU so we can start messing with the torque tables... I don't see much sense in pushing the car past 400 whp if the TCU is still going to throw fits.

As for the tune..... We are going to do a street tune on it for some drivability issues, and I think were going to leave it at 350 whp for a while.....

Next step, walbro 255, fuel rail, turn up the boost.... But that will all have to wait til spring. Right now, I am just having a great time driving the car and having that peace of mind that my new tranny upgrades give me....

TheSin
10-22-2009, 02:20 AM
well I'm gonna wait 1000 before I launch mine, this isn't a full wet clutch system and holds WAY more torque, power and drive line weight then a bike, I'm not chancing it ;)

Glad to hear ya tested it out though :D

Torque limit tables are in the ecu. I already had to adjust mine up from a cobb stage 2 shelf map. I did it using acess tuner race software.

Yea, I'm not trying to come off so negative here... Trust me I wanna see 500whp MR's just as much as you guys. I'm just trying to be skeptical and keep things realistic, so when I see people saying they are simply waiting on 600whp clutches to come out for major upgrades and that you're trying to push the limits of the 500 whp clutches with e85 it's hard not to point out the obvious road blocks.

None the less, I truly love SSP and everything they've so far done for us SST owners. I will most certainly be supporting this company with purchases very soon.

I feel ya, and I'm not saying I'm going to make over 500. I sure as hell would like too. I'll be happy with 450-480.....but we're just going to have to see what happens. Only way you can find out is by trying. And I figure the best way to try would for SSP to build the living shit out of the trans, and send it to Cobb.

I totally agree, I think those are a big problem which causes other problems, though we know there are software limits that still need to be overcome.

What ever it take bud! I'm going give it a shot. So what are the Ported FP reds making on the GSR's ? with full bolt ons and Clutches.

Full bolt on ported FP red with e85 will be on the heals of 500 whp I'm sure...

I haven't seen a red on e85 yet but with meth and bolt ons, they've been pushing 460~
