The STI looks better... hands down. I'm with autoblog can matte black be a color option? I've always loved it.

That's only because it covers up the hideous grill.

The X doesn't look nearly as hot as the concept, but it's still lightyears hotter than the IX.

the wrx/sti look like theyve been hit with the ugly truck

I wasn't aware you drove a truck.

glad I'm not the only one that can't help but think the new wrx/sti is a cruel joke.

Watch Episode 1 of Season 10 (aired a couple weeks ago on the BBC ... torrents are out there), they discuss the new STi and how pathetic it looks during the news segment. --not that anyone ever liked the way any Impreza looked 2002-current. People just deal with it for the performance. I deal with it for the beautiful noise the boxer engine makes :)

Those engines do sound great. Better than any evo engine I ever heard.

Really? I actually don't like that sound... It makes me sad to hear it ; ;

but it's so grumbly! I love the noise, though it is PAINFUL on a wrx or sti with a full 3" catless turboback exhaust.

Even if you were to give a a subie a header with equal length runners, the firing order on the boxer engine is messed up .. it fires the cylinders in pairs, so it'll always have a bit of a unique sound.

I like the sound evos make too though. Evos are definitely much more straightforward (talking current models, not the supercomputer Evo X) tuner cars. Just a nice stout inline 4 with a turbo. Boxer engines make me cringe just from a modification and maintenance point of view. Yay for the complexity of a V6 without the power! double the cams, double the heads.. seems like it would be a lot heavier, though the point was to make a very low to the ground engine so I guess that's ok.

Are you talking the front-rear torque bias?

I had an equal length header on my wrx...everybody hated on me for doing it...saying it loses the boxer rumble and equal length made it sound like a honda...but I've never heard a honda that sounded like my car did...it still keeps a lower tone just not as "rumbly"...

I didn't like the last STi when it was first revealed, but it grew on me...and I almost got one...but when I saw the first spy shots of the 2008, and found out it was strictly a hatch...I converted to Mitsu...everything about the evo is better...from exterior styling to interior styling...don't even get me started on the seats that Subaru puts in its cars...I put JDM STi seats in my wrx...they should be a USDM factory option because they are amazing...they're no recaros of course...

I don't know how to properly explain it, but it's those painfully noticeable gaps in the grumble that I don't like... sorta like the gaps when your car idles... but ALL the time lol.

yup, that's due partially to the exhaust manifold and partially to the design in general --opposing pistons compress at the same time

so 4 strokes, but half as many firings I guess
