: Hot New Song thread
Kooldino 07-06-2007, 05:13 AM Here's a novel idea for a thread:
Recommend people a song to download and listen to.
Rules:
-The song has to be relatively new.
-The song can't be too mainstream (ie, not a song you hear on the radio 24/7)
-The song has to be unique, and good.
I'll start: Timbaland- The Way I Are
iLisa 07-06-2007, 12:53 PM LDN or Smile by Lily Allen.
Kooldino 07-06-2007, 02:06 PM LDN is a good tune.
SATimko 07-06-2007, 02:12 PM Scooter - "Behind The Cow"
Take my word for it...it's pretty good. If that's not your style, check out
Devin Townsend - "Hyperdrive"
Both songs are within the last year of release. The Devin Townsend one will be on CD soon.
Kooldino 07-06-2007, 02:22 PM OMG, someone else knows who SCOOTER is? I can't wait to look this song up tonight.
SATimko 07-06-2007, 02:22 PM So...what is the working definition of relatively new? Within the last two years?
iLisa 07-06-2007, 02:24 PM OMG, someone else knows who SCOOTER is? I can't wait to look this song up tonight.
iTunes them?
SATimko 07-06-2007, 02:25 PM OMG, someone else knows who SCOOTER is? I can't wait to look this song up tonight.
I've got the entire Scooter Discography. If you want any...shoot me a message. I'll send albums.
But, since you mentioned Scooter...another great song from the newest album...
"The United Vibe"
The new album is called "The Ultimate Aural Orgasm"
Kooldino 07-07-2007, 09:01 PM So...what is the working definition of relatively new? Within the last two years?
I guess that works. Two years at oldest.
Kooldino 07-08-2007, 01:24 AM Scooter - "Behind The Cow"
Ok, so far I have two versions, both of which are drastically different.
version 1 - Scooter - Behind the Cow (Extended Version)
version screaming black guy - Scooter - Behind The Cow (Spencer & Hill Dub Remix).mp3
Seems like a good tune overall. I definitely recognize the background (not surprising, as Scooter frequently steals backgrounds from 80's songs), but I can't quite finger it.
Mr. Win 07-08-2007, 03:18 AM Awesome thread idea I'm always looking for new tunes. I can't currently think of anything decent to offer up.
Kooldino 07-08-2007, 09:00 AM Here's one: Kanye West - Stronger
It's rapped over a slowed down version of Daft Punk's Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger which if you're not familiar with, you should also check out.
SATimko 07-08-2007, 05:26 PM Black Stone Cherry - "Crosstown Woman"
These guys are new, but really impress me. In my opinion, they're adding what's been lost in rock music the last decade or so.
Jaysanooch 07-08-2007, 08:08 PM Oh man, thank you for this thread...the best idea! The way I are (Timbaland) is awesome....checking out the rest now.
Mr. Win 07-11-2007, 04:12 AM Where the fuck is kyle on this one? He spouts off all the bands at Dinner in AC and then leaves me wishing I had a photographic memory.
Kooldino 07-11-2007, 04:16 AM Scooter - "Behind The Cow"
I found out where they ripped the background from. Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes.
In other news, Scooter has some lollerworthy lyrics. Good tunes though.
SpicyMchaggis 07-11-2007, 04:25 AM Some random music, some new, some just jams. Albums..not songs.

k-lea 07-31-2007, 08:00 PM Roffle @ Scooter
Kooldino 07-31-2007, 08:02 PM Scooter does have some terrible lyrics.
But the beats are good.
Kansei 07-31-2007, 08:26 PM So are all these songs independent or public domain? Where might one download all these legal free songs? lol
Kooldino 07-31-2007, 08:27 PM shareaza
Kansei 07-31-2007, 08:29 PM Albums..not songs.
Glad to see I'm not the only person that operates that way. Whenever I hear a song I like I just buy the album because there's probably much better gems hiding on there. I would never have discovered Modest Mouse and many of my other fave bands otherwise. The single I first heard was 'ok' but the rest of their work is just mind-blowing at times.
Same goes for the mars volta.. Frances the Mute is an amazing album, the single off of it was obviously just made as a single as all of the other songs on the album are ~20 minutes a piece (split into multiple tracks though)
Kansei 07-31-2007, 08:31 PM shareaza
Is that the RIAA's site for free legal music? glad they finally got into that business hahaa
all kidding aside whenever I want a song I get a torrent of the whole album (see above post for reasoning) and put a 48 hour deadline on deleting all the files. if it's good, I buy the album, if it isn't it's gone. If the RIAA comes knocking I won't ever have more than 2 albums of pirated music.
Kooldino 07-31-2007, 09:10 PM Nice.
Whenever I buy CDs, I rip them into MP3s and promptly give away the CD.
Kansei 08-01-2007, 02:35 AM Nice.

You should probably rip them to a lossless format if you're going to give them away :)
flac ftw (yeah, I run Linux on my ipod to play it :P )
iLisa 08-01-2007, 12:46 PM Nice.

the library is a good place to give them.. also you could try selling them to one of those "used cd" places that resells..
Kooldino 08-01-2007, 03:37 PM Maroon 5 - Kiwi
Mr. Win 08-02-2007, 03:42 PM Roffle @ Scooter

k-lea 08-02-2007, 03:50 PM *nods* I know Scooter very well.
k-lea 08-02-2007, 11:25 PM Holy fudge-stix!
Jakkata - American Dream (Afterlife remix)
Jesus. It's a song to cum for. Lemme see if I can put it up on the server and link you guys, I don't think the mix can be found in too many places.
I've heard all the other versions but this one takes the cake of them all..

As of late I only fit dark and lonely. But...even those are rare. I've been too happy. I can't listen to much of my old metal anymore. Kinda sucks.

Summers a bitch, eh? I really want to listen to Tools 10,000 days albums but.. I can't, because it's bright, sunny, and very warm outside. I'm stuck with taking back sunday, the used, etc.
At sunset I can listen to Modest Mouse and such but not midday.. even though I'm sitting in a very cold office with no windows it just doesn't seem right to listen to 'heavy' or 'dark' music when it's so nice outside
YES I'M CRAZY.
I'm the same way with food too.. I absolutely can't tolerate pizza or chinese food if it's nice outside. It has to at least be dark and cool
Kansei 08-03-2007, 02:56 PM that was secret :(
don't secrets make enemies? :peace:
Liquid_Ag 08-03-2007, 02:59 PM lol flower child :p

I'm a big Tool fan...but 10,000 days just sounds like Lateralus continued...and more drawn out. I was disappointed.
Mr. Win 08-03-2007, 05:55 PM Where's the radiohead?
Kooldino 08-20-2007, 04:11 PM 50 Cent - I get money.
Hot effing track.
SATimko 08-20-2007, 04:19 PM I'll have to check that one out. I haven't been listening to any new music lately. Spending much time getting songs ready for 80's band. It's consuming some life.
Rosshole 08-20-2007, 04:41 PM The Grits - Ooh Ahh
catchy... stuck in my head.
+1 for anyone who recognizes the song
Kooldino 08-20-2007, 06:53 PM ^Found it on http://spool.fm/ and playing it now.

SATimko 02-01-2008, 08:33 PM Ok. I've heard quite a few new songs lately. I think my best suggestion right now is....
kidneythief13 02-11-2008, 07:28 PM I have a few:
Blaqk Audio - "Between Breaths (An XX Perspective)" - CexCells
Julien-K - "Technical Difficulties" - Transformers Soundtrack
Nine Inch Nails - "Capital G" & "My Violent Heart" - Year Zero Also "Starfuckers" - The Fragile
These are all Industrial/Electronic songs
kidneythief13 02-11-2008, 07:32 PM Well, IMO, all songs from the Blaqk Audio CD are excellent, as well as the great noise from the NIN CD.
boostsaves 08-26-2008, 11:56 PM Slipknot Psychosocial, Why it may not be for everyone but its kinda catchy.

mobbstarr & dice - eargasmic <- just catchy lol
kidneythief13 08-27-2008, 12:31 AM N.E.R.D.'s "Seeing Sounds" cd is very catchy. The lyrics aren't that great, but the beats & feeling portrayed in the songs are. Very comedic lyrics (IMO... I'm weird (lol)). Love "Windows" though
Remember the Name.... nice and catchy!
