: AMS EVO X Test: Part Two - Boost Control and Fuel Pump test

After it became very clear that the boost tapered off poorly the next course of action was a boost controller and also to check the condition of the factory Fuel Pump

Below is a statement by Martin Musial of AMS (President, Head tuner and Engineer)

"Well we quickly bypassed the factory boost control system, which oddly enough has two boost control solenoids. We set boost to peak at the same factory level of 22psi but this time it held to 16-17psi at redline. Peak power now climbed to 265-270whp, that’s more like it! So now we’re holding roughly the same boost or 1psi more than an EVO IX and we’re making 10-15whp more, looking good"

While we were tearing things apart we thought it would be a good idea to test the limits of the stock EVO X Fuel Pump

Again a statement from Martin:

"We pulled the fuel pump and threw it on fuel pump test rig. Running the voltage supply at 12V and then 14V we measured flow rates at various pressures, from 40psi up to 100psi. The results where a little surprising as the stock EVO X fuel pump flows about 15%-20% more than a stock EVO IX pump. Depending on what the stock injectors are rated at the EVO X could have a stock fuel system that is capable of handling over 350whp."

Stay tuned guys, we are not slowing down anytime soon LOL

Wow, thanks for sharing guys. How tough was the Fuel Pump to get out compared to previous Evo's?

Chances are, we won't have to.

Yeah, well at least not until huge power is made. AMS said that the stock fuel system should be able to support over 350 whp! My goal for my X is about 400 whp. I don't need or want any more than that.

BTW, AMS, when bypassing the twin solenoids from the factory when installing the MBC that you guys used, what is used in place of them? I mean, there still has to be a solenoid of some sort left in the system right? The MBC doesn't have a solenoid built in, so I'm guessing that one of the stock solenoids was retained and the other one was tossed out. Is this correct?

Same here, 350-400whp is my magic number.

so how much power is lost via the 4wd drive train? Just trying to work out how much 350-400 WHP is at the engine.. I assume WHP is the same as ATW 'at the wheel's'

WHP=Wheel Horsepower.

^Correct.

I would assume that if someone was doing 350 at the wheels, their engine would easily be at 400+

The FMIC is actually $755 not $795.

You can already purchase it on our website or over the phone. The ship date will be March 17th.
