Ha ha, it is meant to be weird and elicit a "what the heck was that" response. Most MINI commercials are like that. Those that know get it, and it is hoped that those that don't will inquire.

The model is the extended wheelbase MINI Cooper Clubman, which has dual barn doors at the back and a sucide door on the right side (note: not on the passenger side, in the UK the door is still on the right, forcing rear seat passengers to get out into traffic!).

This is definitely one of the more interesting car coming out this year, in terms of awkwardness. So is it supposed to be a mini van? PUN INTENDED.

WTF was that?

I've heard the MINI Cooper S Clubman handles as well as the regular Cooper S, but has more rear seat room, easier access to the rear seats through the Club door, and more cargo space accessed through the rear swing out doors. This is the MINI for urban folks with a large dog, a kid, etc., that love the MINI but need (a little) more space.

Coming next is the MINI Colorado, a mini-SUV with AWD based on the Clubman chassis, think Outback more than Explorer.

Wow, niche market much? Very interesting what Mini is making though.
