So sad, so true. My mother keeps telling everyone I'm a computer genius (I wish). It wouldn't be so bad, but when I go visit I always get...

Mom: "Claudia's computer is broken, I told her you'd be over to fix it."
Me: "Who's Claudia?"
Mom: "She's the cashier at the supermarket."
Me: "Do I know her."
Mom: "Of course, she's works at Sedanos."
Me: "I don't shop at Sedanos. DO. I. KNOW. HER???
Mom: "Scott, don't be like that. Help her out. She works afternoons and evenings so you can go over any morning."
Me: "Did you know that I actually have a job... that I have to show up at every day... where they actually pay me and expect me to show up... Every day..."
Mom: "Well can't you take the day off?"
Me: "Take the day off... To fix the computer of someone I've never met... Is she going to pay me?"
Mom: "Scott!!! She works at Sedanos as a cashier! You can't charge her."
Me: "So you want me to take a day off work to help someone I don't know and never met fix a computer not even knowing what's wrong with it and do all this for free... Is that about the jist of it?"
Mom: "You just want to make me look bad, don't you."
Me: "Hey I have an idea, you made the promise, you fix it."

LOL!!!

Scott I feel your pain..my mom does that to me..sometimes she promises I'll build interactive web services to help remarket a failing online presence. I get a call every 2-3 days, while I'm at work, with "Did you go to work today?". I recently had to hook up my sister's new printer (in her defense, it seems a lot of manufacturers don't ship USB cables with their OTS printers anymore). That led to showing her how to backup her files, hooking up her CD-ROM drive which wasn't even attached to the motherboard (yet she just a few weeks ago installed Kodak camera software - uh what?), and asking if I can set her up to play the 1985 Commodore 64 classic video game "Alice in Wonderland (http://www.lemon64.com/?mainurl=http%3A//www.lemon64.com/games/details.php%3FID%3D80)".

It really does all start with hooking up a plug and play printer...

I can totally relate to this, and most of the time it's my dad who is asking me to help fix, or setup his computer.... Scoot, that is just hilarious man!!
