Kind of a noob question. I've been saving for a Cobb AP. I saw the new dealer procedures that began 12/1 that require them to look for a re-flash. If I were to purchase one, then unmarry it before taking it to the dealer, would they catch this?
I know from the forums that this is the best bang for the buck, but I still would like to keep my warranty for performance parts. If it's detectable, I'll look at Carbon Fiber parts...

The AP is undetectable from what Cobb is saying if its reflash back to stock

Just make sure that when you initially connect that you save your factory flash (takes a few minutes). If you don't AP will place the current Mitsubishi factory flash on your car they have on file (if you go back to stock) which isn't a bad thing but if it doesn't match the flash the dealers have on record for you car you could be in a little bit of trouble if trying to get warranty work done.

when I did this it saved the factory reflash. On the cobb ap it says "stock" would this be the factory reflashed that was saved? or is it the default factory reflash? I remember it was a successful download. thanks man and sorry for high jacking

you have to go "uninstall." The stock you're referring to is cobb's "stock" map which just imitates the stock tune and is not the actual default settings.

A subject of much debate! Cobb and others say undetectable onect you uninstall. Some say there's the possibility of a flash counter that could tell the dealer IF you've been flashed (without details). Who knows!! Totally worth the $ for the AP if you don't want a custom tune.

Just went to the dealer today for the fuel pipe, hood latch, air bag sensors and AWC reflash. I pulled my uicp, k&n, put the vac line back and uninstalled my AP. Everything went fine at the dealer! to Cobb!

ive seen this discussed in other threads. the explanation that made the most sense to me was map label serialization. i have done this for cnc programs in the past. the last digits of the factory maps are the map revision; so if you have a factory map ending in "1", it is the first map written by the factory. if you have a map ending in "15", it is the 15th map revision from the factory. the factory has your map history in their system. if your car has "1" associated with your vin but you have a different map number in your ecu, it would raise some questions at the dealer. if joe the mechanic sees a "15", he may claim you have flashed your ecu 15 times.

Still never seen a warranty voided for a tune unless the customer told the service department.
