I finally crossed Mitsubishis recommended break in today, and figured it was time to go see how she does.

Granted, she is almost 300 pounds heavier then my VIII was, and down about 150 WHP, I wasnt expecting much. I tell you what though, what she didnt have in all out acceleration, she more then made up for in grip.

I cant even begin to describe what its like to drive this car at high speeds around some steep bends. I guarantee any dragster would crap himself riding in this thing and never look back to a straight line after feeling the g's this car pulls around corners. Its not even possible to describe in words how fun this car is around these turns. It doesnt feel like any Evo that I have ever been in. Gone is the under steer, gone is the throttle feathering to stay on line, and gone is that damn under steer. Yeah, I know, I said under steer twice.

When you hit that corner, you can literally start applying power at the apex. The car will give a slight hint of understeer, then just rocket out of the gate with no issues. Its absolutely mind boggling how the car manages to stay on line. The real fun starts when you get that back end breaking loose a bit and find yourself in fully controllable power slides. Man, its like driving an old school RWD car and break neck speeds. Just awesome!!!

The acceleration is still very solid, and feels on par with a stock VIII to me. It loses out to the IX though, as the top end really doesnt have the pulling power that the IX has. However, where the X has the bullets, is in that low end torque from 3-4.5k. Its a gun shot.

With all the new found power from simple add ons that are happening, and the obviously advanced ECU, I dont think this will be a problem for long. However, I now find myself wondering not so much what the limits of the motor are, but the limits of the S-AWC system are when you add power. Will we lose that fine comb feel we have now? Or will we be just as out of control as the VIII/IX's are with 400 ponies.

I just went and test drove one yesterday, I must say that the ride is superior the car handles great, and it is no slouch in a straight line either. The ride is allot smoother, and you can actually have a conversation without all the road noise over all I was impressed, It doesn't quite have the top end power like the evo ix but but the mid range is crazy I cannot believe how fast the turbo spools at such low rpms. Over all I think its a great car and cant wait to see what kind of power they can put down with some real mods. I currently drive an evo ix and I really didn't expect to like the new evo x that much as soon as I can afford both of them im buying one...

Hey Man,

I live out in Hillsboro, so I spend some time out in the boonies having fun. Track day is set for March 1st right now, so I will be there as well.

Yeah, that sucked. No one wanted to front the costs. I dont know if you have noticed, but a lot of Mitsu dealerships went out of business in the last year. Only two left in this whole Pacific NW now.

If you go, talk to Mike and let him know I sent you. I am working out a deal with them right now. More details to come soon.
