Any chance of getting an "Other Hobbies" section with sub-forums or something for RC Cars/Trucks? I know I can't be the only one with this sickness lol.

Just a thought!

Yeah that would be cool. I was looking at some traxxas trucks and cars. Nitro stuff. I have a ton of Kyosho Mini-z stuff(a whole track, timing, and cars setup).

Well I just started getting into R/C about a month ago. I started out with a Traxxas Rustler VXL. I got tired of it breaking every time I took it out so I bought a Traxxas Slash 2WD after watching a friend beat the hell out of his for weeks and never broke a thing. Meanwhile I started systematically replacing everything on the Rustler VXL with RPM and TRX aluminum parts. It's much more durable now. Last night I picked up one of the new Traxxas Slash 4X4 RTR kits. I gave the 2WD Slash to my daughter to learn on (she's 7). I got her a new Slash body and painted it pink with white wheels lol.

Next I've got my eye in either a Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3, Traxxas E-Maxx brushless edition, Traxxas Summit, or maybe the HPI Savage XL nitro.

But yea to date I've probably spent over $1,000 this month since the day at work when one of the guys was like, "hey, We should get some R/C trucks to play with outside at lunch" lol. There should be a warning somewhere to let people know that adults with ADD and OCD should stay away from this hobby! Lol

So am I hearing that there is interest in getting a hobby sub-forum section for RC Cara and Trucks started? How do we go about getting it started? Hopefully a mod or admin will see this today. I'll change the thread title to "Street racing kill stories" to get their attention lol j/k.

Never did like stadium truck type RC's.. Raced 2WD buggies before though (had an RC-10, Electric 1:10th scale when I was a teen all pimped out with goodies).

Also had HPI RS4 (AWD, 1:10 scale, Electric) all pimped out also. Used to race at an on-road race track in Pomona, CA.

Dunno if the 1:10th scale Electric Cars are still popular considering they got nitro cars now and all. IMHO, the electrics were much easier to take care off and had ungodly torque.

I had two traxxis nitro 4-Tec with 3.3 engines. I was "sponsored" for a short time by an acoustic engineer who made his own aluminum parts for rc cars. Whatever I broke, he would make the replacement parts. I lost interest after I couldn't really travel to a lot of different races and ended up selling everything on ebay. All in all, I still burned too much money doing it.

I actually found a guy in Vegas that was selling an E-Revo that was practically brand new with 2 7-cell batteries for $225 shipped. I wasn't going to drive up to Vegas that night but I realized they were the Titan brushed motors and not the brushless motors in the $650 E-Revo Brushless.

Right now I'm looking for something large and impressive that I can bash over jumps and really punish without breaking things constantly.

CiCreations, any reason why you have brushless over nitro cars?

I'll get there. I've only been involved in the hobby now for about a month lol. I've been looking at maybe a Nitro 1/8 buggy, and maybe a T-Maxx 3.3. I like the sound and I think it would be cool to tinker around with the engine. I went to the local RC track this past week with the new Traxxas Slash 4X4 and there were several people there with nitro. I didn't sound as cool with electric, but I popped my battery in, ran the track for about half an hour and packed it up. Several of the guys that were there trying to get their nitro cars to start or to stay running were still messing with theirs when I left. So for simplicity of a quick run on break at work or something it think electric is the way to go. For going out to the dry lake beds on a Saturday, I think that I would really enjoy having a nitro car/truck/buggy.

1/18 associated rc18mt

yea i hear ya, i sent hours getting my 1/8 electric buggy setup. I first had a bad charger ac adapter i had to crack open and resolder, then i had the wrong connectors for the gauge wire. i resoldered and heatshrinked things an embarrassingly number of times. I finally got it all laid out the way i wanted it and running. Its freaking ridiculous, probably tops out at 40 but the acceleration is brutal. i need to get it out to the track sometime this week.

Im running a 1900kv with 14t on 4s. As much as I love my gasoline and nitro cars, im pretty sure this thing is faster, more powerful, and easier in every way.

Not a bad price, but I'm looking at getting into a Nitro MT sometime within the next month. I find that most of the time I just want to go out into the desert near my house and drive around and jump over stuff. My Rustler VXL looks like it's becoming a pavement queen so I think I'm going to concentrate on using it for high speed pavement fun. I keep trying to play with the Slash out in the desert and it kinda works, but it's just too low and gets bashed around too much on the rough desert surface. I think that a nice 1/8 scale MT would fit my needs nicely and I can keep the Slash for playing on the local tracks.

I've been looking at the Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3, HPI Savage X or Savage XL, CEN Genesis GST, or the Losi Aftershock. I'd appreciate any experience you guys in the hobby might have.
