Citroen is Fords major competitor in the WRC. In fact Citroen won the manufacturers championship for the WRC 2009. Mirko Hirvonen is the Ford driver and was really pushing hard mid season and was 1 point overall ahead of Sebastian Loeb going into rally Great Britian. Mirko Hirvonen couldn't keep it together at the end and Sebastian Loeb ended up winning it.

This will be interesting. No doubt he'll be running a Focus. Too bad his version won't be production.

Almost every car Ford has rallied has been impressive. MarkII Escort, Sierra Cosworth, Escort Cosworth, RS200, Focus RS and even the Puma all have done well in their categories and have been impressive vehicles overall. The Fiesta is in a similar vein.

The idea that Ford is "getting into rally" with Ken Block makes you sound like you either know nothing about rally or have a head injury. Ford sees an opportunity with Block for his internet popularity on the world stage, to get more Americans interested in the sport and, since Block will be running a Fiesta here in Rally America- to sell younger byers on an American small car. Ford is the last standing of the big 3 for a reason, they are not stupid. They needed safer cars? Buy volvo and use their tech. Need decent small engines? Buy Mazda and do the same. It is a pretty adaptable company.

I'll be glad to see the Fiestas run over here. Would buy one too if it was AWD and turbo. Block isn't going to run something like the EvoX. Mitsu has left the development of the car up to the private teams. That means time and money getting everything working right and losing races because of mechanical issues, look at L'Estage, ACP and Foust this last year. The cars are sorted now, but no thanks to Mitsu themselves.

Just to clear things up, as an outsider I have a vague set of "facts" one of which is that Subaru never paid Ken to rally. Monster and DC has paid Ken and paid for Subaru to be there via VT Car.

Monster is paying again but Ford is offering him "a little" money so the incentive is now better than "nothing" for Ken to actually get paid to race.

MSport is running Ken's ford for WRC events. This will be tremendously expensive and tax even his budget I'm sure.

Both Ken and Travis write enough cars off that it will actually sting when he crashes a WRC.

Ford KILLED in X-Games last summer. Can't wait to see what they do this year. Glad he left Subaru, and didn't go with Mitsubishi. Seeing Ford do so good in this economy and still race makes me have a lot more confidence in them.

Bc it's amazing ppl call Ford shit. Yet Subaru, Honda and Mitsubishi have all pulled out of separate racing campaigns...and Ford enters as a new heavy hitter with the US crowd. Besides the Ford you talking about is the EU version and its far away from the US version. The car is not even sold in here or in that matter anywhere. :D

For the EU Ford awd RS i would sell my evo, But you cant buy that AWD RS, so i keep my evo...:D

A last time i checked the original idea and plan is also the rules , to run a rally event, you need a car what you can buy at the dealer.
At least have to be sold in one year, that one model you run 2500 unit for public,/ so everybody can race/ :coffee:

That is why all the companies pulled out , because the WRC cars has nothing to do with a street cars since they introduce them. And some companies care what is the sport about and dont forget the roots.
Like even Peugeot. Who could stay in the FIA WRC but they decided to go with IRC instead lately. /to being french so they knew the rule changes, but they stomach couldn't take the "rules" what that FIA /french -english/ pulled out since 2001.
The WRC became an eu nascar organization, which is favor and push only the manufacturers /which they favor/, and left the people - manufacturers behind or out.
That is why they dying as we speak... Some company's recognize that so as the rally fans.
Look up IRC , that is where the rally continues. So as F1 drivers look into it even.... :)
