: Phantom Black GSR?
Has anyone got a Phantom Black GSR yet? Thinking about changing my order from an MR to a GSR and would really like to keep that color. In my searches so far, no one seems to have one, but it is listed as an optional color for the GSR.
Thx.
Jackygor 02-11-2008, 05:47 AM As of now PB GSR only exist in Canada me think.
Couldn't find the picture though, but it does exist.
Now that you mention it, all the pics I've seen of the PB color have been MRs. But you are right that it appears to be available in Canada.
Did see a pic of one from Quebec:

Mr. Win 02-11-2008, 01:52 PM It is an option.
TRUSTcompany9000 02-11-2008, 01:55 PM You have to custom order it, and you have a very short time fram to do so I believe, if you are looking for one in the states.
Kooldino 02-11-2008, 02:09 PM I have a Phantom Black GSR on order. It wasn't an option at first, but now is. They're due in April.
Thuan 02-11-2008, 02:52 PM Even though it’s an option now, a lot of the smaller dealership don’t even know it, or don’t have the option to have it order yet.
Here in Minneosta, we only have 5 dealerships. I call everyone asking about the PB
all but one dealership said they can order one for me. I had to let them know the order code myself. I have since picked up a WW-X but will leave the deposit there,I know a few friends that will be picking up a X ,and im sure one of them will want the Black.
Just make sure when you order, the U02 color code is in your order.
Sounds about right. I'm not sure that the dealers knew they could order it OR it appeared as an option AFTER the initial order of Evos.
That would explain why there doesn't appear to be any in stock. You would think that they would have ordered at least a few PB cars otherwise. Right?

DirectorSe7en 02-15-2008, 07:15 AM Damn that's hot! Can't wait for mine....
Crispy 02-16-2008, 02:35 AM I have a PB GSR on order too....build date is supposed to be March 22, so I'm looking at mid-April delivery. Originally only the MR was to be in PB but since the MR is pushed back to 2009 they decided to make the GSR in PB. Limited run though and I wouldn't expect the GSR to be available in PB next year. Test drove a red one tonight...

_Chris_ 02-16-2008, 02:56 AM ... but since the MR is pushed back to 2009...
Is that a fact?
Crispy 02-16-2008, 03:00 AM According to my dealer, Moore Mitsubishi here in St. Louis, they are slated for "sometime this fall", and as such will be labeled 2009 models, released somewhat early for an '09. There will be no 2008 MRs. Just passing on what I was told, sorry if I was misunderstood.
LowUFO 02-16-2008, 10:30 PM Is that a fact?
Tough to get the straight dope, huh Chris?
Jackygor 02-16-2008, 10:53 PM Is that a fact?
There are too many mixed information, no one knows for sure since we are getting so many "official information" from Mitsubishi headquarters.

It is. Everyone has a different story, but being the more cynical type, I'm more inclined to believe that it's later than earlier. I wanted the MR too, but not only will I get mine 6 months before any MRs are out, but I won't be dealing with the potential headaches of the SST. Plus, I'll be saving 5 grand which I'm more than happy to spend to get this baby up to around 400awhp...

I think most people will wait if Mitsubishi proposed these 2 options to their MR customers.
1. You can get the MR now but it is not perfected yet.
2. Wait 6 months so we can perfect this technology.
I sure as hell would wait even thought I really really really want a MR.
DirectorSe7en 02-17-2008, 12:44 AM Come on MR!
torian05 01-25-2010, 07:36 AM i bought a pb gsr used in aurora, illinois! look hard enough and you'll find one
torian05 01-25-2010, 07:38 AM just noticed these posts were from a year a go, we'll hope you found your perfect GSR!
hotdog 01-25-2010, 08:44 AM This thread confused the hell out of me until I saw the dates.
Crispy 01-25-2010, 12:33 PM I noticed one of you guys wants to take this car to around 400awhp for around $5K. Might be possible, but be prepared to spend more to get those numbers unless you're a DIYer.
I had AMS in Chicago do a custom flash on the dyno and a cold air intake, the whole bill was about $1700. Getting just shy of 300 awhp now. Wow what a difference. These guys know their stuff.
Of course, Mits found out about the flash and now I have no warranty at all. It's screwy, since they know most GSR buyers will mod their car, but they could care less and hopefully nothing else goes wrong.
At least I drove the car for about 2 years before modding it, so I lost a year of warranty. No biggie, I hope, since nothing else has gone wrong. Amsoil 10W40 is their oil of choice, they tell me it's way better than Mobil 1.
Anyone out there mod an MR yet?

aevo86 01-25-2010, 12:55 PM lol I did.I'm confused or this is a really old thread.
Crispy 01-25-2010, 01:04 PM Yes, it's a pretty old thread. I'm only answering since I got an email in my inbox saying there was a reply to something I posted over a year ago.
I am still curious about modding success with people who have MRs. Apparently the gearbox isn't meant to handle more than around 350-400awhp, and if you blow one of those puppies up, be prepared to fork over $8K.

this has been said quite a few times, but i guess one more time wouldn't hurt.
yes, the SST can't handle an extremely large hp.
solution? yes
SSP has made tranny upgrades so that the MR can be a beast as well...
is it expensive? kinda. but worth it, most likely
have people done it? yes... quite a few, The Sin, and I believe SSP Jeremy? Correct me if I'm wrong.
