: For the modders and trackers

If you haven't noticed anything about your Evo X yet :-p

Top vents are blocked up (need to remove during track days)
Top scoop is blocked up (need to remove during track days)
Side vents are actually used to cool the engine bay and evacuate the heat

snorkel to the air intake is soooo straight its not funny (you can see the air filter panel if you peek in)
the MAS is no longer Karman sensor .. it looks to be hot wire  (ie less restrictions and easier to make your own piggyback if you want)

Oil cooler location is so much better designed than the previous evos it looks like a sieve in the wheel well ..

Oil filter location right in front of the engine .. and you don't need sensor adaptors to fit oil pressure and temp sensors :)

Underbody is more aerodynamic than any of the evo's I've had .. of course that's with the undertray installed ..

Once I finish my analysis, I'm going to DIY some of the things which should improve the overall performance of the engine :godance:

Top on my list now is an airbox that gets the air from the front instead of the present position at the top of the radiator .. :-P may involve a bit of cutting :bowlol:

I believe there is only one sensor outlet so you can only connect either or. If you want both, you'll need the adapter.

Why are the vents blocked then?
And if they are removed for the track, cant they just be left out?
I dont want to blow up my engine on the street :(

What do you mean 'blocked', as in fake vents?

My vents work just fine on my X they are not blocked.

Maybe but mine works great . I can see the heat coming out of the hood at a stop light.

Could you both post pics so we can compare the difference?

Yeah, I dont understand the blocked thing. What specifically is blocked? All the vents I have are open and clear. Its pretty essential for the center one to be open, as it drives air over the turbo for cooling.

mine are clear.. (?)

DETAILS GUYS .. you don't pay attention to details ..
the left vent is blocked on mine .. while the right side is open ..
the center scoop is blocked also .. and all these can be taken out when you go for track day for additional cooling .. I did say these can be taken out for track day didn't I ?? :godance:

The side vent is highlighted to show where it is and it exits directly under the door mirrors..

Added the snorkel view .. where the white stuff is the filter itself :tumbleweed:

your evo is the only one i have ever seen like that, ones here in tx are all open and ready to go.

Nice isn't it .. they should all be the same .. just that when I say blocked .. they have the piece of metal cover which you can remove for even larger vent area for cooling ..

i see what you are saying, lol its so hot in texas that if you dont have all the vents open the car will over heat and blow up

Yes yours is blocked .. look carefully :bowlol: :-P

And for now you're right .. haven't gotten under the chassis yet .. but they put an adaptor on the oil filter for the pressure sensor .. which was hidden from view when I looked at it from the top ..

I dont have this on mine at all. Vents are ALL open, stuck pencils through all of them. Air flow is definitely going through the center scoop and being directed down to the turbo. Is there something I am missing here? Are you talking about something else that I am not getting? Are you saying that the vents are partially blocked?

OK .. on mine .. only the right vent is open .. left is blocked .. just a pieceof metal plate .. the center scoop is partially block .. so to be pedantic you're right :-P about only 40% of the scoop is open ..

Here's a few things for the DIY guys if you like ..

I'm going to reshape/make the metal tray below the scoop to channel air directly to the compressor instead of being partially blocked..

Reposition the snorkel so that it will get the air directly from the front instead of on the current position.. it may require cutting of the metal if I want to keep the size of the snorkel same though ..but you can't believe how straight it'll go to the filter :D and it's ram air .. :shades:

BTW the radiator and the beam has a gap about 2-2.5" gap .. hehe

Ok, why don't you just remove the metal plates from ur X gunzo?

wow....i guess its not as unblocked as we thought it was.......im just worryed about carbon fiber hoods....are they going to make them just like the factory made them with vents and all? yall know what i mean.

Hopefully the carbon fiber hoods aren't going to be blocked like this. May have to make a note of that, as we here at RJ Customs are currently in the process of designing a new carbon fiber wide bodykit
