: Should I give up my S2000?
KingKong 02-14-2008, 08:07 AM Of course you all will say trade it in, but I am having a hard time getting rid of my S2K for the new EVO. I have driven the new X and it is awesome, love it in white. The dealer in Roseville is asking 8K over sticker. I'm sure I can get it down though. I think the sales guys there said they travelled somewhere today to go through training on the EVO. I wonder if other dealers went as well. They said they would have alot more info on the car...
Jackygor 02-14-2008, 08:10 AM No you shouldn't!
Keep both :)
Robotix Junior 02-14-2008, 09:37 AM Keep both man, learn the epic art of Haggling! You got any pics of the S2000? If you are defenetly gunna be selling it, hook my up with the info and i'll see if one of my guys wanna take it off ur hands for a handy packet
_Chris_ 02-14-2008, 11:20 AM Id keep it
ShahulX 02-14-2008, 01:02 PM but you need it as Downpayment.... ?? If your still Into picking up girls then keep the s2k.... If you wanna go fast? Buy the evo....
The evo is more practical, you can use it in bad weather, handles better ( it does) , is faster and once you go turbo, you forget about vtec
The s2k is awesome on a perfect day, the evo is awesome everyday
Robotix Junior 02-14-2008, 01:33 PM Yeah, but one of my guys may offer a better price. And are you saying the X is not a good car to pickup girls?
ShahulX 02-14-2008, 01:38 PM depends on the girl and age I think... Under 23 maybe... Otherwise I think more would like the cuteness of the s2000 and convertible
Let's e honest here, the evo is a big boy toy... Not many women ( I didn't say girls) find it appealing and I think the car more or less appeals to 16-35 year olds... I'm 28 bought my 1st evo at 23
Kooldino 02-14-2008, 02:16 PM For me, trading an s2000 for an Evo X is a no brainer. More practical, more power, better performance. The S2K is only good for sunny days and parking lot burnouts compared to the evo.
Robotix Junior 02-14-2008, 02:17 PM I used to have an s2000, really only works for race hoes tho. You want girls, get an X! The roar is enough to get any woman you want! (As long as they aint frigid lol)
Robotix Junior 02-14-2008, 02:18 PM And yes Dino, the EVO will out-do the S2K anyday!
damon_chambers 02-14-2008, 05:32 PM i personally would pick the X over the s2k if i had to have only one. if you can afford both, use the s2k as a weekend car and the X as your daily driver.
KingKong 02-14-2008, 05:40 PM Thanks for all the replies guys. My wife wants to keep the S2K. Girls definitely like the car better I think. But I have three kids as well, so I never drive the S2K. It sits in my garage! It handles like none other though...
Thuan 02-14-2008, 06:16 PM Thanks for all the replies guys. My wife wants to keep the S2K. Girls definitely like the car better I think. But I have three kids as well, so I never drive the S2K. It sits in my garage! It handles like none other though...
Im still trying to figure out how to fit a 9 yrs old, 2 yrs. old, and in 5 month a newborn in back of My Evo-X.
Werewolf17 02-14-2008, 06:39 PM Thanks for all the replies guys. My wife wants to keep the S2K. Girls definitely like the car better I think. ...I could see that, but I think that's because its a chick car, if you get what I mean. A 240 hp motor that you have to drive like you hate to get power from...I used to love pissing on those cars in my old mustang. You should have saved up a bit more and bought a Porsche Boxster S, its prettier and probably would have got you more play (before you were married of course) haha
It handles like none other though...[/quote]
......Yea right...I'm pretty sure the S2000 can't pull a .99 on the lateral test
KingKong 02-14-2008, 06:43 PM Actually, Werewolf17, if you check out the March 2008 issue of Road & Track in the Road Test Summary, you will find that they tested a S2K CR and it did indeed match the .99G of the new EVO! It also did 71.7mph in the slalom and 5.3 0-60.
Werewolf17 02-14-2008, 06:53 PM I heard something about that car not too long ago, but have yet to see one on the road...isn't it brand new for this year?
Ill eat my words, but I'd be willing to bet that your car (in your garage) doesn't pull a .99 and comes nowhere near that zero to 60 time. My brother-in-law had one a few years back, and you would have to kill the motor to get any kind of performance from it. (which he traded in for a Z...btw- Not a big fan of that car either, but I think two-seaters are for old men)
The S is kinda pretty, though I still think its more of a chick car (kinda like a mazda miata on steroids)
Kooldino 02-14-2008, 09:05 PM Thanks for all the replies guys. My wife wants to keep the S2K. Girls definitely like the car better I think. But I have three kids as well, so I never drive the S2K. It sits in my garage! It handles like none other though...
Yeah, for some reason, women have a fascination with the S2000. They just love the looks.
on2it 02-14-2008, 09:07 PM Give the S2K to the wife. Buy the X for your family drives :)
Dont give up the S2K unless you have to for the Evo. You wont regret it.
darth g-f 02-15-2008, 01:06 AM Performance wise the Evo wins. But the S2000 doesn't do the driving for you. Those new AWD cars can do amazing thing (like make a 3600lbs grips the skid pad to ,99g) but it is the SAWD driving, not you.
I own a Lotus Elise and no way would I ever trade that car for an electro gizmo awd car. Evos are awesome rain or shine but you're basically a passenger in a roller coster ride. The S2K/Elise, you drive it. You are one with the car. It responds instantly to your every move. No tricks, no gimmicks. You're good, the car is good. You're bad, the car is bad. You won't be saved by DSC, TC, YC, SAWD or other gadgetry. And this is what makes driving a lightweight sports car someting no numbers can explain.
I was looking for a Evo as a daily driver. My Lotus is my track/fun car. I have no doubt the Evo is gonna be fast around a track and with the right mods can be faster than most cars. But you are not the one doing the miracles, the SAWD is. And NEVER EVER would I trade my Lotus for an Evo.
Boostez 02-15-2008, 03:48 AM To add to that.. I must confess that my first time at the autox opened a newfound respect for the S2000. I saw all KINDS of cars at that track (i.e. evos, stis, elises, bmws, etc..) and yet, an S2000 had the fastest time. It was incredible!!
I wouldn't sleep on a well prepped S2000 at the track for nothing.. I don't care if I am driving an S-AYC AWD X. Even with all of it's driveline gadgetry doesn't guarantee the fastest track time.
KingKong 02-15-2008, 03:55 AM Hmm, so what do you think of going with a GReddy Turbo on my S2K?
Jackygor 02-15-2008, 03:59 AM Hmm, so what do you think of going with a GReddy Turbo on my S2K?
instead of...what?
KingKong 02-15-2008, 04:19 AM Comptech Supercharger, Kraftwerks Rotrex Charger, Inline Pro Turbo, keeping it stock, or trade for New EVO!
cksdayoff 02-15-2008, 04:59 AM s2000s and miata's are sweet sweet cars. s2000s are also very unforgiving if you don't know what you're doing. chicks do love s2000s though, i see a lot of women driving them.
you might need to pull a rabbit out of your ass somehow so you can keep both the s2000 and evo x. but if i had to go with one, of course i would choose the evo. better daily driver in all weather conditions, a lot safer, better performance, and it will also save your ass on a few occassions as an added bonus.
Jackygor 02-15-2008, 04:59 AM Comptech Supercharger, Kraftwerks Rotrex Charger, Inline Pro Turbo, keeping it stock, or trade for New EVO!
That was what I was looking for...
If you are planning to go FI you might as well for the EVO. Recent test shows VERY promising power just with basic bolt ons.
Jackygor 02-15-2008, 05:00 AM Oh, worst case scenario sell your wife and keep the S2k
UnctrldRage 02-15-2008, 05:26 AM Actually think for women speaking from mere observation...I girl that knows nothing about cars will be attracted to the S2K more then the Evo...Lets face despite what we know about it ...it looks like Lancer (as it should) with a Large wing and some wheels..
Now if the girl is worth her salt...then pending her preferences she could pick either the S2000 or the EVO...a race between the two in stock trim I have a feeling would come down to course and driver skill because the cars are both very capable
DirectorSe7en 02-15-2008, 07:09 AM Yes you should get rid of it. The X is a better car and also more practical for daily use.
