Hello everyone. I don't know if you guys have this kind of problem before: My TC-SST transmission has shift shock when shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear after the engine has warmed up (Like driving around 30 mins). Actually if the transmission in Sport or S-Sport mode the shift shock is normal because the engine in high rpm and transmission shift fast. However, my transmission's shift shock occurs at Normal mode and more often occurs at shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear. I did the 30,000 miles service at my local delearship including change the transmission fluid (DiaQueen SSTF-1) and the transmission filter. Also the advisor asked me if the engine's rpm was erratic when car was stopped (idle) and I said yes, so they checked the PCM software and re-flash it. After I done the service, the shift shock I described above happened, so you guys have any idea what is going on to my Evo? Is this possible that because they re-flash my pcm software?

are you really erratic on idle, normally it's the MAF sensor. normally there is a shift shock but not all the time. after the reflash is it still erratic.

So the 1-2 shift is harsh after they flashed the TCU, but it wasn't before?

I think I am because the rpm is going up a little bit then going down on idle, but someone told me the when fans run would also cause the engine's rpm. However, after I reflash the problem still there......,but the rpm won't go down like 700rpm, before it is go down like 300rpm and the engine almost stopped. About the shift shock it should not occurs all the time, but when the engine warmed up I can feel the car shakes at shifting from 1st to 2nd gear everytime.

Well it is hard to say maybe I didn't realized before, but I am so sure after they re-flash the shift shock occurs. I think maybe the PCM cause the transmission shift at wrong time but I am not so sure.

i dont think you have a really erratic rpm, there is video of that it is really bad. that rpm moves a bit. the shift shock on mine is when it is downshifting, let's say 5 gear then suddenly it goes to 3rd while cornering.

Maybe you are right because my erratic rpm only occurs when engine has warmed up and the fans begin to run, because everytime I saw the rpm move down a littile bit I can hear the fans start running. About the shift shock I have the same experience like using the Sport mode and suddenly press the brake the transmission down shift and the shift shock occurs, maybe on the Normal mode the shift shock I mentioned is not really a shift shock, but still when my transmission shift from 1st gear to 2nd, the car shakes. It is a shift shock or not? I am kind of worry about my Evo, does the shift shock will damage the transmission? What will cause the shift shock occur?

it's normal. those jerky rpm they idle at 2500rpm( i cannot find the you tube vidz). your is fine. my experience with shift shock is on downshift not all the time maybe twice. let's say sport mode 4rd gear when i slow down to corner and off the gas from 4th it shift to2nd. and you will hear a boom sound like sombody rear ended you. but by pressing the break lightly it will not downshift to 2nd but 3rd. i dont know why. now how many miles do you have in your car?

If you say it is normal then I will not that worry about it anymore. So far I have 33,990 miles in my car, I purchased my car at Jun 14, 2008 and I drive a lot, my car is almost highway driving, well thanks a lot anyway.
