: Troubleshoot

You know a lot of people are always asking for help on here, so why not have a troubleshooting area for people that need help troubleshooting or installing parts to ask questions. I just see a lot of threads that are placed over and over again about problems/installs they are doing. Reason I think there is those threads, the Noobs (that don't know) don't know how to use the search or did not see a section where they can see people are having problem they have had and find the answer there. Just Idea to kick around. Thanks, Nathan aka WhiteWind...lol.

I agree, that would organize all the zOMG WHAT IS WRONG threads. Hell, I've had a few of those myself.

Thanks did know what people would think about this and yes I have placed them myself. It would clean somethings up I would think.

This is not even close to what people are asking for help/troubleshoot/questions etc. I really think it would clean up place.

seems like a good idea but would need to be set up in catagories like aftermarket install, driveability, asc abs, transmission, suspension, and name that rattle so they can open the correct area to post or read in.

LMFAO. You expect the staff to respond? I did a suggestion, was told "check back when we're not busy". Months later I did and nothing...bumped my suggestion AGAIN....nothing.

I agree with the "Search sucks" opinions, anything your looking for thats three letters is thrown out. AMS, BOV, LED, GST, ETS, AGP, and so on its hard to find things at times.

I would say the searh funtion works 80% of the time. It seems to be the worst when you know what thread you want but the search funtion will not find it. I resort to trying the searh in goodle and get my threads that way this works well for me.

I want to know how to do this, is a European site or something?

Hi team, I'll see if we can get a closer look at this issue. Will update shortly.

"Okay sire, what was he doing"
"Was on EvoXforums and a Mod is looking into the suggestion Forum and trying help"
"Click"
"Hello"
"Yes this is the President of America, Are you sure this is happening"
"Yes sire!"
"My LORD! What have we done..."

I don't appreciate the sarcasm.

I bust my ass for this community and I honestly spend more time than I should on here as it is. There are a million threads a day, and I can only read so many of them.

As whitewind pointed out, I always reply to PMs. If there's an important thread that's been sitting for awhile that you want me to check out, then link it to me in a PM. You'll find it's much more effective than bashing the staff in a thread.

The mods in general all apologize for the lack of involvement in this section. I have an idea for something that may help with all of the help me threads; however, I personally agree somewhat with everyone posting the problem in the coinciding section from where the problem originated.

As for the diagnostics forum...I have mixed feelings on it. I feel that if you have an issue going on with a part of your car, you should post in the appropriate subforum and not some generic "diagnostics" forum where one thread is about engine troubles and the next is about suspension. I'm super organized by nature (eg, a million subforums on this site), and an unorganized diagnostics section will make the anal side of me cringe.

The obvious solution here would be to add a diag for each area of the car, but that just seems to be redundant and more of a pain than it's worth.

^ I agree.

How about a special "tag" or indicator that can be enabled to indicate a "troubleshooting" thread? Then maybe a "solved" indicator for troubleshooting threads where the solution has been reached?

good thinking outside the box. A new post/thread icon?? etc.

I understand where you are coming from there.

How about breaking it down like this,

(+Diagnostics/Troubleshoot)

+Diagnostics/Troubleshoot/Transmission

- GSR 5-speed

- MR SST

+ Diagnostics/Troubleshoot/Tuning

- Tuning Cobb

- Tuning Ecuflash

+ Diagnostics/Troubleshoot/Engine

- DTC

- Turbo

- Engine

+ Diagnostics/Troubleshoot/Electronic

- Electronics

I just think it would be good idea. Thanks again for looking into this though.

I see where you are going, but I agree with Dino and the other mods. It would be counter productive to create a whole new section for this... You would have people jumping back and forth between the regular Transmission section and the diagnostic Transmission section.

xPRimNT's idea would be easier to implement and would still identify "diagnostic" or "Help me figure this out" posts.

All said thanks for the input as it helps to have many people looking at a problem to increase the chances of finding the "best" solution.

Hey go to your 9 section!!! lol j/k. I understand and keep forgetting how people can't post in the right area anyways lol. Just gets old, seeing same old post and about same problem people are having or had.

People don't use search here at all beside couple people.

That would be CT9A section... OR VII/VIII/IX Section, but it would be pronounced "See Tee nine Ayy Section" or "Seven, eight, nine section" :D

And if people don't use search, then we need to educate them. You can "idiot proof" anything only so much. Eventually the user has to step up and learn.
